Take Two: Today's Release
We told you it was coming and then we let you have a sneak peak , then we tried to release it – But now it’s here.
So what’s new in this release, some big things, some smaller, all nice and shiny.
So what’s new in this release, some big things, some smaller, all nice and shiny.
- Clearly there’s a new look around the place and a whole lot of shuffling around. For a detailed look at this checkout the Backstage post
- Tags now have to be comma separated, this is so you can have multi-word tags like “new york city” or “south australia”.
- My Groups panel in MyBubble – This is replacing the “group news” panel to give you a better look at activity across your groups and to flag when there’s new Group Messages for you to check out. It also lets you quickly check in on challenges you’ve entered (and how many votes you’ve recieved).
- Group messages are also now in your activity feed.
- Image Feed (a.k.a. Work and Favorites from your watchlist, a.k.a. Work you may have missed) is now configurable. Pick what you want to see, or just turn it off completely.
- Lovely new edit button – Let’s you quickly jump in to edit one of your works from the public view .
- Members lists and “My Groups” in groups are now sorted in alphabetical order.
- Group promotional tools – You’ll hear more about these soon.
So hopefully you all enjoy what’s finally gone out today – and we’ll do our best to squash any remaining bugs quick-smart.
Note also: Your activity feeds have to be disabled for a few hours while we update the database to to handle all the new group messages and put them in your activity feed. Sorry it takes so long, but there’s a tonne of activity!
- Russ says enjoy and have a nice day.

Kudos guys…...RB gets better and better!

i’ve got major issues on firefox 3. lots of white space where i think pictures should be. anyone else…...?
Stephen Vecchi...
Good idea as many other sites have this exact option for searching.
square
ahhh, i see. i just saw xavier’s post-it note explanation. call off the search. might check back later this evening and see how it looks.

How brilliant =) I am looking forward to it!!! =)

@sqare
Try pressing CTRL + F5 or CTRL + SHIFT + R, depending on your browser to force a refresh (try both if youre not sure).
After some changes we made to the network some people’s browsers or ISPs are still pointing to the old location and need to have their caches cleared.
Carole Felmy
good job ! :)
Jane Keats
Sweet :o)
Rachel Stickney
Sounds great! Can’t wait to check it all out.
Hopefully you were able to fix the bug for “group moderation of my work” where it didn’t show the reasons, only whether an image was accepted or rejected. As a group host, I find that very frustrating when people don’t know why their work is rejected, especially if it’s an easy fix.
Thanks!
lizalady
Can’t wait to see the final work.
Rachel Stickney
@ge0ff and square
I’m using IE 7 and I have the excess whte space problem too. I cleared my cache and opened a new window, but it’s still messed up.
Matt Simner
Beauty!, ripper! etc etc – a few little unexpected goodies like the multi-word tags too. Everyone satisfied now? ;)
Paul McClintock
Good work guys. I’m going to go see if I can break it.
Jack McCabe
I like the flatter look and feel, icons larger, tagging etc
felinemind
Love the easy way to see which images are in which group challenge – much easier to follow what’s going on!
owlspook
ooo ooo thanks for the lovely new edit button on the image page!! I’ll be checking out the new stuff when you finish updating the database … thanks also for the multi-word tags! (big smile)
Faizan Qureshi
The ‘boom’ is back :) Well done Russ.
Geoffrey Dunn
Fabulous! Hooray for mutli-word tagging too :-)
Well done people :-)
Spiritinme
i could get used to this!!Thanks for all the hard work
Sam Mortimer
@tags: will tags already there be automatically separated by a comma, or will we have to go back and add a comma to every tag of every piece of artwork?
RedBubble replied
The commas were always there (even if you didn’t put them in) but the release should have tried to group common words together, so it’s best to check them anyway. It’s worth the effort though, all for the better.
waitin' for ra...
great professional look and can’t wait to see all the changes !!!
ps… “edit” button – cool !!!

love the layout and the new look…
very professional looking indeed!!!
awesome!

The GROUPS section is GREAT ! ... though a bit of a disappointment if I see how few votes I got :))

hey at last you made it! XD
Well, I just want to say I like so much the new look and the contents organization, a great job as always :)

wider than 1024 in camino and safari. Tabs for home and my bubble have white space below them (other tabs don’t). NO left margin – r in red bubble smack against the left edge. Just some quick observations. I’m sure they’ll sort themselves out (with a little help). :-)
RedBubble replied
It sounds like you have your text-size increased… check your View->Zoom menu in Safari because it definitely fits in 1024
Kieron Nolan
I was worried about changes but these look good. I’m looking forward to the Group Promotional Tools. At the moment I’ve been pasting banners on people’s work inviting them to join.
Continuing from bubblehex08’s comment about votes, currently it’s hard to navigate through challenge submissions. If there are 350 entries and you were one of the first to submit then at voting time you may get less views. Would it be feasible to view all entries as you do normal group work with a link underneath each to vote for them?
RedBubble replied
When people view the challenge page, each person gets a randomised order of the challenge that only they see – so if you submit your work first, it might be last on some peoples but first on others.
Mohsen Bayramn...
yes, a very professional edition! looks so nice…
Thank you Guys.
Tessa Bishop
There are some excellent additions/improvements here, much more user friendly. I like it! Thanks guys x

yayy!! Nice update guys. If there’s any bugs roaming around im sure people will let you know about them ;) Thanks muchly :)

Looks like some great changes! But, does anybody know what’s going on in IE7? On the overview page I’m getting two rows of 5 thumbnails, followed by one row of 2. I’d love to know how to fix that!
RedBubble replied
Fix is on the way, we’ve fixed it, just not pushed out to the live site yet.

Thanks so much for all your hard work
MuscularTeeth
sweet.
question – with this new taggin system, do we need to go back and re-tag our work?
RedBubble replied
You’ll want to double-check. We’ve added commas for you, and the system has tried to guess ‘word pairings’ but it’ll be in your best interest to go through your work and double-check.
Kitsmumma
Looks good!
Amandalynn Jones
I really love the new look, it’s fabulous. Also, being able to see how many votes works in challenges have gotten is aces. Well done Team RB!

very glad you’re fixing the layout thing :) I’ve just had a go at editing one of my pictures from the public view page. It works a dream :)

best update so far, well done red, extremely well done, you’ve taken a website i already love and made it even better!

Looks GOOOOOD to me ;) xoxox
Victoria DeMore
I like it… might take a little getting used to… but it has a nice feel to it. There might be some areas for improvement… but until I get used to where everything is, I can’t really say what those might be. The overview page kind of has more of a twitter or facebook feel to it, which I’m not sure if I like but I’ll get used to. Overall I think the layout has great potential.
Carla Jandelle...
only problem i find i’m having is on the page that allows u to click on the sales options? they all run together over other parts so i can’t click THOSE boxes?

Can you give us some details of your browser/OS and we’ll try and sort this out for you! Thanks.

looks great…
but it need some adjustments!!!
1. it is really slow
2. some of the activities in the MYBUBBLE OVERVIEW …are doubled..tripled…etc
RedBubble replied
The slow down was highly likely due to us still working on the release – should be back to normal now.
Diesel Laws
Awesome. OMG OMG OMG there is an edit button on preview OMG OMG!
David Petranker
I will say what I dont like first, and its only one major problem, why in the main user page or profile page have you put our current or new art work down the bottom, a lot of us do our own marketing and use the user page as our card, I know we all like to brag what features we have got but the most important thing is our recent art work and a simple way for prospected customers to look at it. This site now seems and feels to be a community orientated website rather than a place for us to get our name out there and to sell our work. Why would you put view all art work down the bottom of our profile page. Are we trying to make it harder for people to purchase our work. Also saying this there seems to be a lot of backend development rather than trying to find new clients or purchases or government contracts. There are other companies out there which i have mentioned before who are out there promoting there product at every event, I have never seen Redbubble do that. Now on a positive note the layout is really nice the groups set out is really nice and easier to track. I still think you need to get the people who use this site on a daily basis together do a survey on what needs to be done.
RedBubble replied
That’s not an intentional thing David – what web browser are you in and is it still doing this at the moment if you refresh the page?
Rosemary Scott
Edit button….. Faaanntastic!!!!
Just one slight prob…... I’m now not being notified when someone leaves a comment on my work….. Have discovered this by chance & don’t know if I’ve missed many.
I know you’re busy….. no rush :))
peter reid
time to make the move to ‘Firefox’?
RedBubble replied
This should be fixed now. (But don’t let that stop you moving to Firefox…)

Thanks! Looks great – the best thing is that we can see now which images are in which group challenge. Love it!
Karen Betts
wow this looks really good like the new lay out and seeing the groups with there avatar next to them helps. As to seeing how many votes i get in a challenge not sure as i got 0 in one of them LOL Yes a great job thank you off to see what it all does.
Just 1 thing it is really slow, but i am guessing it is due to you still tweaking here and there and ,loading things in. well done appreciate all the work you have put into it.
pyko
wow looks great guys! well done :)

Looks fantastic. KUTGW.

I am having trouble but then that’s me
I have a huge white patch down the middle of my activities page with all the pictures and writing to each side I literally find myself moving my chair and keyboard to the left of my screen to work!
I have also tried to “TONE DOWN” the BRIGHTNESS of my screen to very sad effect but for the life of me I cannot READ anything on the screen without squinting due to the brightness! I suppose it’s one way to curtail the addictiveness – I feel it will be very harmful to spend much time at all looking in the bubble now after only an hour trying to read my work I have the makings of eye strain headache – something I have only had when caught out in broad daylight needing to drive but not have my sun glasses!
There’s a thought I’ll wear my sunnies bubbling!
I’m not harking back to the old old bubble page but when the activity list was on the right the pictures were down the middle of the page right in your face and easy to see! If I shrink the page to bring the coloured images closer together I need a magnifying glass to read anything!
So is it just me? or is the work split in half down each side of the screen & a massive big bright white patch down the middle? – if nothing else wouldn’t this be prime real-estate space?
On a good note I do think you’ve actually given us another 10 character space width to the writing boxes THANK YOU!
RedBubble replied
Hi there – your MyBubble shouldn’t be doing that, what browser/OS are you using? Thanks!
Basia McAuley
looking good!!
Luca Renoldi
Really great job. Well done. A sensible improvment.
Thanks

Gili Orr
Sounds good! Still have to check it all, but I was immediately pleased with the clear view on challenges I participate in, theimages I have there and the current amount of votes. There are so many challenges going on at the moment, it was impossible to remember where I had what etc.
Something I’ve missed with the earlier changes and I am not sure if anyone else did: notification when my work has been removed from a challenge. if I am notified on time, I can either argue against it or send another image to this challenge. And anyway, people may learn that way what’s not acceptable (since many send images that have nothing to do with the theme or have not been entered to the group).
conniecrayon
SO sleek and user friendly ,love The Bubble ,its a great place to be (((((((((((((((O;
dimsim
hmmm it looks great :) i like some of these features, but hope the site isn’t going to lose the wonderful simplicity that made it attractive in the first place …
most importantly, the new tags will not overlay onto old tags, so the site will now have eg “new york city” images as well as newyorkcity ones, and some authors will want to update the old ones … which will be tedious ... so i wonder if the next phase will include a useful batch editing feature, especially for keywords and prices, this would be megauseful… needs to be able to batch-add, batch-delete, and batch-replace-all for the keyword feature to be much use …
good luck with the ongoing development, and congrats on the current successful (?) release :)
RedBubble replied
Good idea – have you put it in the Feedback page?
Shelley Heath
Great work guys, it is looking good
Colleen Milburn
@Russell
Is it just me, or does each new page I open take a lot longer? You may remember, last week(?) I downloaded firefox which is what I’m running off now. Besides that, it looks fabulous, Russ & Co. :))
RedBubble replied
The site was probably going slow while we were updating everything, let us know if you still have problems now.
DesImages
Thanks for the groups panel. It’s so nice having an easy way to keep up with group activity again.
whatsthatbeeping
so far it seems a little more user friendly
Paul Gibbons
At first i thought wow this is great but have just looked at MY PROFILE PAGE and what happened? Everything is squashed to the left of the screen and I have to scroll to find the art work, this is a step backwards.
I thought that promoting art was the whole point?
Please put it back to how it was :)
RedBubble replied
Hey Paul – that’s not intentional – can you let us know what browser/OS you’re using? Thanks!
Carla Jandelle...
AOL 9.1 and Firefox ….it was also the biggest problem when this was first launched? all my text ran into it’self….this time it’s only the boxes to check sizes of prints for sale
aglaia b
fantastic job!
well done russ. :-) xox

AH Fixed the placement issue! I shrunk the screen to a box & positioned it half way across my screen!
- can only see half the page at a time but hey I don’t have my chair rammed half way through the side wall!
- Now what shall I put on my desk top to look pretty behind it?
There now Can you picture it?
This silly old broad with sunglasses on inside looking at half a screen trying to write at night!!
Thank goodness I have a sense of humour!
I don’t like it but then I’ll swallow it and work it somehow
afterall beggars cant be choosers!
Chookas!

I don’t like how my public profile page looks now.
I isn’t a good idea to put the art section at the botom.
The rest is great.
RedBubble replied
Can you give us your Browser/OS details so we can figure out why this is happening – definitely not meant to be that way!

Fantastic work RB Elves… I love it… lots and lots of white, but its not like I can spill beetroot on it from here!! Nice and clean and modern. With lots of bits of red!! Gotta keep the red… after all we live in Red bubbles :D

Everything looks great, except our profile page. Definitely prefer the new art to be positioned at the top of the page where it was before, rather than having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page..

Russ and the Team put the Sexy back in The Bubble while I was asleep!! Hawt.
Well-done, all of you! Go-Go Gadget Hip-Bump!!

The my groups feed looks so much better …........... big Thumbs Up

Apparently those using Internet Explorer the ones having problems with their profile page, and they are endeavouring to fix it, last I read somewhere!

How come everyone’s art page is at the bottom but I’m a writer and it’s still at the top of my profile page?

Excellent!!
adgray
I’m using Internet Explorer and Firefox and I have everything in the right place …. well where RB put it …. bit I need my sunnies to look at the bloody thing
AND my Temporary Internet File count has exploded ten fold!
I GOT IT!!!!
That’s how RB is a free sight!
They do all this so our Down Loads sky rocket and we pay exorbitant download costs to our providers who then pay RB!
blind blind I tell you I’m blind!
RedBubble replied
Not quite adgray :) I think you’ll find that because we redid a whole lot of the site your computer is re-caching everything we use.
Lori Walton
Where is my Group News? First Host’s lost bubblemail, then we finally got a few people looking at the group news feed and now it is gone too? How are we supposed to communicate with groups now?
RedBubble replied
Group news is now “Group Messages” which everyone receives notification on the right panel in MyBubble, as well as directly into their activity feed (if they have chosen to see it) and within the groups themselves.
Jeremy de Bono
It’s looking really smooth and neat so far!! Thanks!!
Colleen Milburn
@Russell
It also seems that I’m now a member of ‘Strange Vintage Fictions’!! I’ve never joined and had never heard of the group till I received a group bmail and it’s showing up in ‘My groups’. I’m sure it’s a great group, but what’s happened here?
RedBubble replied
Very odd – perhaps just ‘leave’ the group and we’ll take note incase it happens again.
Simon Whittaker
Much, much improved – I really like this version.

Great work on the updates!! Thanks for all your hard work. The new and improved Groups section is great and I love the “cleaner” look.

Thank you Redbubble, for Fantastic Site and Brilliant work!
gaylene
i many good things (commas betweeen words in tags) – but I hate the HUGE amount of space between my pictures on the left (if viewed especially by another redbubbler) and the right side of the screen only has a portion viewable with my name, the buy/preview button, the other imges I have spent ages importing etc. It seems a waste of effort at this point to put more than 1 image on at a time when I love to showcase so many pictures of a particular place I have beeen. And I cannot seee what I am typing at the moment as the button for Dont. forget, redbubble etiquette is blocking the views. And still grumbling – sorry – but is this update made for wide image computer screens…? I have to keep scrolling across or up and down.
RedBubble replied
I’m going to guess you’re using Internet Explorer 6 there gaylene – unfortunately we had to crop the images on the right side of the artwork pages that people were putting in their descriptions (just in IE6) as they were breaking the layout in different parts of the site. Your images still show up, just slightly smaller, in all other browsers that can actually scale the images down properly. Perhaps if you grab Firefox and try using it you’ll have a better view.
And I’ll fix up the RedBubble Etiquette link in the morning – sorry about that!
- Russ
Linda Callaghan
great work great site…. still is time consuming clicking back and back to return to the bubble comment page after replying to comments …but still enjoying the bubble! will have to go explore more now …..

Its looking better everyday now you guys have really worked hard and took the flack of it all at the same time! This is well worth the wait. Hoping that the improvements will be ongoing for the finish. Thank You – David
Jeffrey Hamilton
Cheers; your efforts at tweeking are definitely appreciated. it must be mammoth job controlling a site like this. the multi word tags is a definitely plus. I’ve been using underscores to do just that. I don’t think people realised just how silly some of their tag words came out in the public view
red addiction
wow! Good morning RB! I just got up and this came to a huge surprise to me. Not too Shabby! Great work! Now I need my cup of coffee!

I am browsing at work (bad boy) and this is IE6, I will check when I get home with IE7 and Firefox. Thanks for the update I am assuming its a browser issue and all is good in my bubble world :)
mandi andreasen
this is all great! thanks for the hard work to make a great place to advertise and sale! still my only wish is for you guys to offer individuel prints like 4×6, wallets, 8×10, 5×7, ect… that would help allot of our businesses, at least mine were im a portrait photographer. i want to run my business directly threw you so i can gaurantee good quality prints. i hate it when people i do portraits for take them to cheap printing places makes my work look bad… but again great job with all you have done… still happy here.
LjMaxx
Shy of some multi posting of group announcements showing which is being tweaked I read… Mine is working great. (IE-8) Looks streamlined crisp. Has even more useful features such as vote count and organized group messages. WTG R.B. I love the new look and feel! Thanks~ :)

Well, it is a compass… much easier to use to find your way around, than a watch with the 12 pointing towards north!! Doesn’t everyone get a fuzzy shadow behind the images within the art pages? ooooh, I must be special :D
Has Peter told you the challenge sections in the groups have no secondary tabs to click?

there are 9 images now not just six AND it remembers where you were when you click back!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
now if it went to the TOP of the page (swap with the feed stuff) and we put the activity pictures down the middle of the page we would have an ART Focussed Artist colony! :O)
Tania Rose
Bugga! a bug! A prob with editing changes in the description field after a new work upload. Keeps going to the OOps page and doesn’t register the changes.
Andrea Searle
Yay for the edit button in public view!! Good job guys :)

Der …... I’m a writer what is a browser/OS?
Elucidate
It might interest you to know that Redbubble can no longer be logged on to from most mobile phones. The document is too large, and login is impossible. I don’t think anything can be done to change this, though. The update is still brilliant, though.
Stephen Rowsell
I love love LOVE the smooth rounded borders around everything—Very slick. It sorta hints towards us being able to sort our public profile by drag-and-drop… am i right? :) I want to be able to move my journal entries underneath my watchlist box :)

Well, my page is all over the place today…don’t know whats happened. The main photo is appearing half way down the page with a big white space at the top :-((
Joanne Bradley
Great work guys! Just make sure to check the activity feed, because if stop somewhere to look at an image, right it’s returning me to the very top and losing my place! But great work!
gabbielizzie
it’s great,well done
conniecrayon
No problems for me am lovin the new layout but would really like it if within the ” my groups” list it could mention new challenges that were currently running so i dont have to go to each group to check , i noticed that if youve entered a challenge it has your entry which is fab but will it let us know when new challenges are about to begin???
Lenka
Thanks for much better organisation of My Groups, and specially for the review of challenges entered (and number of votes; great!). Edit button is a great addition too :)
Unfortunately, my activity feed doesn’t look well now (in Opera), with the descriptions under the pictures so that it takes in much more space, and the icons for various types of activities are also less quickly recognisable (stuck between all those thumbnails). And the page seems to be about 6x higher than its content now (= lot of free space on the bottom side now); not much practical for quick scrolling…
Otherwise, well done, thumbs up :)
Els Steutel
Looks good guys :) but…..um…..I still have that sign that I have 1 message, but…but there is no message at all…lol…
G. Patrick Colvin
This is probably just my OCD talking, but why are the number of the displayed photos on my group’s page different from page to page. On the front page, it’s 12 thumbs each for art and features, but inside it switches to 13. Why not 15? Is this something to do with the browser I’m using (IE) or. . .? I know some of you might find this a bit anal retentive, but I really don’t like that it’s unequal. Everything else is pretty cool though.

WoW! Fabulous!! So far, Ive played around and am liking the new changes.. However, on my profile page, everything is pushed to the left and my artwork is all the way down.. The entire right side is just plain white. I’m using Avant browser.
I am SO LOVING the new groups/challenges feed, now I can see which ones Ive entered right there, instead of going through my bookmarks..
Keep up the awesomeness! You guys totally rock!

Most of it is great, esp the group stuff. However, why is the profile page half the size?

Congratulations for all!!!...well done:)

Like everyone else there are things I love and things I’d like to see added, but I wanted to take this moment to say THANK YOU for being such a progressive site and for sincerely caring about what its community needs…. you are always responsive and genuinely nice even under criticism.. you guys deserve a big applause... it’s why i love my bubble!

After playing around with this new thing, I have to say, I don’t like the way the groups are set up when uploading new images. The group layout is sloppy. Im so sorry but it takes me forever to scroll down my groups to choose any of them to place my images in.

Camino=V1.6.7 Safari=3.2.1
I REEEEEEEEEly like the edit function being available without jumping to two different screens to get it, and also the fact that you can now see how many votes your image got in a challenge (like you used to only better now)!!!!
jell
new layout brilliant so far.
Could you at RB put the same amount of effort into getting card or product sales improved Try Please I have made one sale in just over 1yr on this site, not really good enough John
jujubean
I am likeing what I see so far. I love that you can see the images you have added in a challenge and how many votes they have recieved! I just hope they load faster than they used to. Haven’t done that yet.
nancie
Sorry, we’ve got a problem.
Don’t panic, it’s not your fault. We’re still building and testing RedBubble, and you may have found a bug!
The good news is that an email has been automatically sent to our developers, and we’ll make sure this gets fixed ASAP.
Mary Campbell
Oh thank-you for that edit button, this will make this so much more managable. Lots of nice changes the group stuff is nice too.
I am experiencing performance problems (it’s really slow) don’t know if this is caused by the cut over or the data bases. Since the new stuff cut over I’ve noticed alot of duplicate enteries showing up in the comments and replies even if you hit the enter key once. Might be a problem with the data bases referential integrity. Which could cause this and slow down searching.. You might want to check that.
Another thing, it seems to take a long time loading up everything when you have alot of art like I do, especially for things like challenges. You might want to consider loading a users Art works up once at login, and leaving it in a buffer until you log off. This might help speed up transaction processing and response time, and free up the servers from load up the same Art over and over again when you are entering work in challenges.
I know more things to consider, but in the end you could wind up saving you need for more servers..
Oh well, overall I liked the work done it a really good change!!.

HURRAY – multi-word tagging!!!
KreativeKapture
*Before, when I changed my Profile, I could then click on ’ View my Public Profile ’ to see if I did it right. That option is gone (unless I’m mistaken, please correct me)... I have to go to “OVERVIEW” and then to the View Public Profile to see. The extra step is now taking longer than the previous version.
Overall – MANY great changes, I haven’t gone into the configuration of watchlist etc, but will try that.
KUDOS! Great improvements on the whole.

Will there be any hopes of editing our profile pages? A little like the wonderful bubblesites where themes, gallerys, features and whatnot are easily managed by the user. The user profile page on the main site seems to distinctly lack the slickness and the professional quality of the bubblesites, which is a real shame. Many thanks in advance!
Chamika Amarasiri
The new features are great! Thanks RB :)
Judith Hayes
Lots of great new features, especially the multi-word tags!!

Edit button is a life saver. This is nice, image feed is adjustable, challenge entries are easy to check on.. awesome

Not as bad as I thought bar the Groups window hogging real estate space in My Bubble… Much better imo as a hidded expandable list… more and more real estate it seems is being consumed by these Gimmicks. The functionality was there, it was neat and it worked….
Have not yet sees how the groups messages will affect the activity feeds… I actually had to drop out of some groups when it employed the bubble mail method… due to message OD…. Then came The windowed version… better but as above hogs MyBubble real estate…
If this is a separate link now in your feeds that you can click on and chose to view – much better imo that having it on a like it or not basis… Please add a toggle switch for those myGroups windows on the MyBubble Page to hide them or better still a switch in the options to turn them off altogether… Other than that I would like to congratulate you pn a much cleaner layout… The comma thing will take a bit of adjusting to… I am familiar with this from some forums… but once again a user becomes accustomed to certain practice when using a site… habit…and sudden changes like this are never easy to adapt to even if neccessary
Bigger and clearer fonts are definitely welcome though….
Angie McKenzie
love the new look, and the larger text is REALLY helpful with my sad to say slowly increasing bad vision. thanks!!
one issue i noticed is on the image edit page, seems the intents/tabs seem to be mixing the text a bit as if maybe the margins arent set right. have a look see.
solo75
The watchlist looks funny….I can see part of peoples names behind the thumbnail photos??
Priscilla Rodr...
I do not like it at all…....it’s so spacey, and nothing fits..

Just two words: I like it! Ok…three words. Very nice especially being able to see the numbers of votes you get in a challenge. Great job!!!
elisab
Just looked at my front page. I love how you have my personal groups organized, so easy to get to them. Thanks.

Thanks RB!! So far everything is working out just fine!! Love all the new additions, so much faster for those on DIAL UP!! MILLION THANKS! Keep up the good work!!
RedHillDigital
Not bad quality compared to recent efforts, but have noticed a problem with the layout when adding new work with the choices of card/print/poster.
steven martin
Thanks I think you all are doing a fine job keeping everything up to date getting rid of bugs and working hard. Many websites never do that for there members so I would like to thank RB for taking the time to create and manage a fantastic website where people can understand one another through art and life!
gaylene
Thank you very much Russ for your reply. I hope I can fix it.
johna
a bit wide for my 1024px wide display. Maybe allow some text-wrapping here and there?
debsphotos
You’ve all done a ‘top’ job of pleasing the masses!!! LOL..Well done!!!Great improvments on the ‘groups’ layout!!! Much appreciated!!! Thank you…*-)
Colin Powell
What a lot of work you have been up to – new look is great – nice and clean – I like the increased feel of space.
My only negative observation – I find the grey drop-shadow around image display distracting and at odds with the clean lines everywhere else.
dreamNwish
I noticed the changes very early this morning. I like them! :-)
bubblehex08
I read here that it is fixed, but I always have 2 rows of 5 thumbnails followed by one row of 2. That’s not good, because I feature always 6 pictures in the groups hosted by myself.
I think it is just the margins being too large between the thumbnails.
Anne Hale
Wonderful! I’ve been trying it out, and it looks great. Thanks for making our lives easier :)
jo beerens
Note to everybody that is still using Internet Explorer version 6: it is time to upgrade to version 7. There are several issues with version that RB probably won’t be fixed as this version is out of date.
Don’t install version 8 as this isn’t supported yet. More info here

Awesome Layout:)))))) But One Question Is It Going To Speed Up? Thanks Bunches For The Change:)xoxox
LisArt
I am loving the changes made. Has really streamlined “MY BUBBLE”, so much easier to take
all the activity in at a glance. Great work guys, much appreciated by this bubbler.

Don’t install version 8 as this isn’t supported yet.
Working fine in IE8 Jo, and I know that Russ was testing it in IE8
Colleen Battis...
I use a FireFox browser and all the photos are towards the bottom of the page, seems the alignment/margins are screwy?
Other than that I like it :)
Colleen Farrell
Looks great, thanks!
Vanessa Anderberg
I think the front page need to be addressed…too much space on the right side….NOT enough room for our artwork to be exhibited.?? Only 9 spots…and then bare space after favorites and watchlist.
The left side, with groups, and Journals, dominates the entire page….It looks too lopsided.
RedBubble replied
If you’re using Internet Explorer give the page a refresh now – I think we may have squished this bug this morning.
rightasrain
I like the cleanness of the profiles – a new white background. Looks much fresher.

Dang, you guys keep getting better at this, and I’m definitely glad that I joined redbubble; you guys make things very nice for the many artists on redbubble.

Cool beans! A welcome improvement. Thanks guys!
Sam Dantone
Impressive as usual…
Vanessa Anderberg
Hi
What I meant was a future consideration…MORE spaces for our artwork on the right side.
If you post T-shirts….You are limited to 6 only spaces for art….and then 6 t-shirt spots.
If you do not post T-shirts…You get 9 spots only, for art. I feel that there should be more spaces for the artwork on our Public profile page.
My site is centered on front. The lopsided view comes when you see the left…full of the groups we are in, and then our journal entries. The addition of extra framed art is used by many of us, to get our work On to the front page…This makes it lopsided…as the additions are on the left side. I was trying to say…I feel more space for artwork should be allotted on the right side of the page.
Michael Alesich
Great work guys, love the design and works perfectly on my browser (I know there are a lot of issues so I thought you needed to know it works well.)
Norman Repacholi
great work guys, some excellent improvements!

Thanx guys…you just get better and better. Provided functions I hadn’t thought of and ones I had wished for. The RB experience continues to improve and shine amongst the many art sites that are popping up…thank you!

I am LOVING this!! The new layout..the new edit button..the New Image Feed..all of it!

I noticed in Buy/Preview the images for the arrows that take you through the calendar pages are missing.

@Kathleen – Thanks, back/forward buttons will be back later on today!
Agnes McGuinness
I especially like the groups in alphabetical order. This is a great help when editing. Agnes xx

RedBubble keeps getting better and better!! Thank you for having the members in alphabetical order as well as the groups. You all deserve an award for your time and talent in creating these excellent changes!
binjy
:( It is taking MUCH longer to load – that’s one reason I left F…r
I also do not like the group stuff…. how many new members etc is of no interest to me.
I enjoyed the group/challenge news as it was displayed on the previous version, too…
DO LOVE the edit button tho :)
Thank you.

i used ccleaner to properly clear my cache but still getting a very abstract interpretation of the site in firefox 3/win xp/telstra isp.
checked on chrome and works fine. looks good. feels lighter. you guys weren’t kidding when you said you were going to add extra pop. drop shadow is a nice touch.
TomBaumker
Nice work guys. Keep up the good work. We all apreciate what you are doing for us. How about making our sites easier for the public like just adding our name and going straight to our photos with out clicking on our photo. It is confusing to some that has never been on redbubble before. Thumbs up to everyone. Tom
Kelly J
Obviously having a few glitches – guess that is normal when you tinker with things… Someone has just mentioned that it is slower … it is A LOT slower than before.. I thought it was just me.. Is this just part of the process?
Tainia Finlay
Fantastsic improvements thank you all concerned very much! I agree with Kelly above it is slower but I now know where I am and where I’m going which is a vast improvement on a few weeks ago!! Again thanks … HEAPS!!

it is getting better, like some of the many changes, now…
Thank you for workin with us ,tryin to listen, thank you!
wish list:
would like to see bubble mail people in order of alphabets, love that with other items now! (yea)/yes, it needs to be easier to access new challenges…/ I like how you can hover over& get info for posted comments-reply dates AND blue marked area( like magic!)/agree need more ease with acess our name ,click- deal for visitors, etheir clic name & go straight to us OR post aditional instructions next to avatar/ * in edit ,would like up down bar to be a move to bottom of EACH page, with ability to contiue to back page Or front page to top so as to have more control on placement of photos-artwork/nuff4now…thank you! ;)

@Russell
Hi Russ – any ideas why I’m still taking up to 10 seconds to navigate to each page? Have been using Firefox for nearly 2 weeks and it’s been fabulous and fast, till now.
Carole Russell
Liking the new look – good work all!

Groups.
I dont like what has happened to the groups, with regard to how people in the group are added.
I cannot see who has joined last, as I send BM’s welcoming people to the group.
When it was done in the old way, it was so easy to see who had joined, but not now.
Can it go back to the old way please?
Apart from that, I think that it looks great.
RedBubble replied
You’ll find that if you go to the ‘activity’ page in your group you can filter down to ‘new users’ there.
RiSH :
I love the updates … but seem to be some problems … I am uploading screenshots… the first is as follows :
Looks like the image thumbnails are located above the text, I think it will be better as it was side by side. Now I have to scroll more, also makes thing difficult to read.
I am using Opera 9 latest version on Windows Vista.
RiSH :
See here … I am browsing my watchlist … but why the last row has only three users ?? I think the row should be full … unless it is the last page of watchlist … every page of my watchlist has only three users in the last row. Is this intended ? I dont think this serves any purpose … I have to go through more pages to see them all.

great changes…
G. Patrick Colvin
RISH: I had the same problem. It’s because of your browser. I was getting that with IE, but on Safari everything is back to normal.
For the RB staff: In the list of people in our groups, is there a way to switch from alphabetical listing to chronological listing by date of joining.
RedBubble replied
Checkout the activity section in your group and filter by ‘new users’.

Great work guys … love it … thanks :)

I have SeaMonkey set for a minimum font size of 11. It makes the page wide. It shouldn’t. I’m looking and I see nothing that should expand beyond the edge just because of larger fonts. I think there’s some less-than-optimal styling here. Are some page elements being sized in terms of characters? Maybe use % of the container instead. That should make the scaling much more adaptive to the user’s display, like HTML should be.
johna
Just looked at http://images-0.redbubble.net/stylesheets/1242188594/new/layout.css. Looks like a lot of measurements expressed in “em”. That’s probably why it’s overscaling when people set larger font sizes.
Debbie Sanders...
now that I have used it, I like it. Love the way groups are displayed and the way one can keep track of challenges. The posting of group news is better. Well done on all fronts.
Russell Greenwood
@RiSH – The watchlist length is a bug that we’re fixing today. As for Opera, they seem to treat the widths of our activity feed a little weird, I’ll see if I can fix up the alignments for you soon.
@johna – The site is deliberately set with em values for layout so that it does scale with the text size without breaking the layout. We have a lot of key elements to the site that don’t play well with scaling just the text, so things are setup to scale based on the font size. In the future we’re looking at a slightly more flexible/fluid version of the layout, but that wasn’t in the scope of this release.
I did check the site in Seamonkey, and it should all still work fine with your minimum font size, it’s just a bit wider.
Tony Lin
I really do not like the new implementation of the group messages. It was much better for sending out announcements via a bubblemail. Now it is hardly noticeable when you get a group message if you are a member of more than a few groups.
Ken Boxsell
Hi guys…......I have a glitch with the new overview page…....In the groups box it always says, “you have 3 messages”.........I have viewed all of those messages and counter came back from “you have 12 messages” to only 3. Can we have a button to delete them and or reset so that I dont continually get the you have 3 messages dialog box.
Cheers

thankyou thankyou thankyou! i love what you have done with the My Groups panel. It is just what I wanted and I no longer get frustrated when logging in and looking at all the activity and wondering where to start! Good on you:)

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser, and wonder if that is my problem in seeing my group homepages showing the photos in rows of 8 and 4, instead of 6 and 6. What can I do to change this, since the rows appear unfinished to me. I liked the 6 and 6 that I had before. I also have a widescreen 19” monitor and wonder if that is causing some of this trouble.
johna
I saved my Art and Activity Feed pages with all their accompanying files and found a modification to the styling for the section_wrap class that fixed the width issue. Just change the width from 96em to auto.
If anyone using a Gecko-based browser (Firefox, SeaMonkey, etc.) doesn’t want to wait for RB to make that change, just add the following to your userContent.css file…
@-moz-document url-prefix(http://www.redbubble.com/) {
#section_wrap {
width:auto ! important;
margin:0 auto;
padding:0 2em 1em 2em;
text-align:left;
clear:both;
position: relative;
}
}
(I included the entire styling with the modification. Not sure if it will work with just the width attribute but it might.)

Thanks i like a lot of the changes > i am a dummy when it comes to techs on my PC and you have made it a lot better for me to get around >>> But i am still sad about some of my photos that flip when i up load them ,i have tryed to do what i have been told to but it will not work or i am just a dummy ? i hope you will get it to were we can work on or photos on your site some day Thanks for every thing Gene

I have a suggestion, on the My Art page (the one where we see our own art and view counts etc), could you add an “order by” option? I would like to have it easier to see my art with the most number of views, rather than having to flip through pages and write down the counts.
