RedBubble

The lowdown on aspect ratios

We hear you! The current limitations on image shapes (i.e. aspect ratios) will be relaxed in the next release in early April.

Currently only photos and artwork with aspect ratios of 1:1, 2:3, 3:4 can be made available for sale on RedBubble. We’ve got plenty of feedback that your creativity comes in more shapes and sizes than that!

From April, we’ll implement changes that allow you to sell images of almost any aspect ratio on RedBubble, up to hefty panoramas of about 1:4.

1:4 … awesome! I suppose I could push my 1:22 pano to print with some white space at the edges :p

What can I do to my images that are visible, but marked “Not for Sale”, so that they can also be “for Sale”. Can I change them in photoshop in some way?

At the moment you have two options…

    1) Re-Upload your files as 1:1,3:4 or 2:3 images (change the canvas size in photoshop)

    2) Wait until April when we will accept a much wider range of images (your existing uploads will automatically have the avaliable for sale option enabled then)

....and these ratios in terms of pixels or inches or millimeters or papersize (A2 3 4) or canvas size equal = ??

A Little more detail guys! We dont all use photoshop.

In the gimp I have the options of resizing with linear interpolation and changing both image and canvas size or using templates and then cropping or resizing them.

I assume remembering my geometry 1:1 equals a square image?

This is good news. Sometimes something strays into frame, or there is too much distraction in the background and a picture needs to be cropped to remove it.
