Groups
Version one of groups are live here. We see them as the villages within the RedBubble universe. They are organized around a subject, style or a social community on RedBubble. They can be a single-genre (eg macro-photography) or multi-genre (images plus words). They can be designed to promote excellence, as a place for learning or for more social and fun purposes.
Some basics:
- Groups are administered by an owner who has the ability to reject works or even delete members from the group if they are not in-line with the guidelines or purposes of the group
- For the moment all groups are open – i.e. anybody can join a group – and submit a work; so please respect the guidelines for the group
- To join a group simply view the group and click “join”
- To add work go to My Bubble and find the image or written work you want to add ot a group and click “edit”. You will see under the work a list of groups to which you are a member. For the moment images and written works, but not journal entries, can be added. Simply click the group/s which you want to add it to. If you want to remove a work just reverse this process
- To form a group for the moment you will need to send an email to earswideopen@redbubble.com with the proposed title, description and the image you wish to show (it should be an image on RedBubble).
Group functionality will be evolving … so watch this space.
Amandalynn Jones
well done guys!
Cathie Tranent
Thanks guys!
I’m already in three groups!!
Jordan Clarke
Would be great to have an Illustration group – I have trouble finding other illustrators on Redbubble. Would be handy to know how many of us there are, and be able to get in touch. Loving the new groups though! Very exciting times…
SnowDog
Hey the Groups are here!!!
If you consider yourself a PhotoShop Junkie! or a Pro or even a beginner come on and join the new Group I will be moderating called
” PixElations – The Art of PhotoShop
Derid wrote the great description about the group! and will be helping out as my Co-Admin
” PixElations is a group of RedBubble Photoshop users of all levels and experiences. The goal of PixElations is to promote and elevate the expertise of Photoshop users at RedBubble.
The group promotes and encourages growth of its members by sharing tutorials, resources and techniques. PixElations is a place for members to post Photoshop generated images for critique, suggestions and feedback from group members. The group promotes and facilitates collaborations between group members and interested RedBubble artists.
PixElations also promotes growth of its members by posting challenges, and encouraging members to enter images in local and international competitions.”
Come on and Join good people !!!
Rose Moxon
For the 3D artists amoung us… we now have a group called
The Art of 3D
Look forward to seeing you there!
Faizan Qureshi
Thanks guys… looking forward to testing this!
Tom Godfrey
As soon as I buy Photoshop, I’ll join. It sounds great, Snowdog. Meanwhile, come to the far out reaches, a creative corner of artists who stretch pixels and bend minds to their limits…. Sci Fi – Multi Genre
Have fun in your various villages throughout the Bubbleverse
Lizzie Keitel
sounds like fun! :)
sasufi
I want to start a TOY CAMERA group !
Pilgrim
We are missing a comedy, comic group. Who would like to manage that!
Natalie Manuel
Yay, RB is quick today.
Leeo
Very exciting! It’s great watching the bubble evolve. I can’t wait for someone to start a Landscape Group!!!. It will also be great just to be able to view the amazing works that others produce in different groups.
Happy Bubbling All.
Tanya B. Schro...
Yes to the toy camera group – I don’t have one yet, but I’m planning on getting a Holga very soon. Groups are going to be great – thanks, RB!
Natalie Manuel
Hey RB, you know what would be nice? a private “mod” group for when the groups get more complicated and perhaps mods of each group can have discussions on the best way to handle things etc?
bobdollar
OOOH wow!!! Sounds very good. i can’t wait. Brilliant idea RB!!! :D
Kathleen Donnelly
Is it appropriate to join a group if you don’t produce that particular type of work? I’m an admirer of lots of different stuff that I don’t know how to do but I don’t know if I should join those groups.
Craig Goldsmith
I echo Natalie’s request, a mod/admin group would be handy.
Tanya B. Schro...
Is it okay to post more than one image in your group? Or does it depend on the group’s specifications. If multiple postings are okay, maybe there could be a group called ‘Your Best Shot’ or something, where everyone just posts one piece.
Vonnie Murfin
I like having groups. I was wondering if anyone wants to lead a sportings events groups.
Natalie Manuel
If someone is going to do a landscape group I will delete the landscape photos from my group once it’s active :) Just let me know.
webgrrl
I think i/we should have a Psychedelic/Surrealism type group or would they be two separate groups (psychedelic arts & surrealism)
and also i would like to put my hand up for forming : Event/Concert/Festival Photography (photography and graphic arts related to Music events, festivals, etc)
Natalie Manuel
webgrrl – I think you have to email them to set up a new group :)
tambatoys
I just wanted to make a comment , please read the guidelines of the the groups, For example Drawn to cotton is a group for artists and illustrators who do their OWN drawings by hand or vector NOT photos or found images.
Sorry I do not mean to sound pushy :) but there is no point having a group if it’s everything chucked in.
Joan Smart
as a beginner do i put all my work in my group ,and will “the group watcher” be commenting on helpful hints or just reg. comments as usual?
Angela McConnell
does anyone else feel like it is christmas already??
Melinda Kerr
Oh no it’s like being chosen for the netball team at school again…pick me…pick me… How about a group for insecure people??
Roger Barnes
Good stuff. It looks like the mods will have their work cut out to get rid of the cruft and inevitable folio spamming.
imageworld
hey bubblers love the group idea, well done
Bobbie
Yaaaaay what fun! Melinda I agree we need a group for insecure people but I’m too scared to start it :P
Oops I found a glitch….when I look at the group gallery some images have a remove button on them, obviously I didn’t click them to see if they remove the artwork but it looks possible.
Melinda Kerr
Yes Bobbie I’ve gone all shaky at the knees!
lightsmith
i did think that maybe a group for indisicives. or is that indicisives? i think its the first. i should check my oxford dictionary. or maybe google. no i’ll change it from indisiscives to ditherers. perhaps. anyway, we could have a group where we could post pictures that we are unsure on. or not post them. or maybe its not a good idea anyway. or is it?
kseriphyn
Missing a Fantasy theme group. you know fairies, elves LOTR based images and stories and everything else in a persons imagination.
Andrew Brown
I agree lightsmith. I used to be indecisive, but now I’m not to sure!
Benjamin Scheurer
the group idea is fantastic.
One question…do pictures in groups have the same ranking system compared
with the regular system?
Halcyon007
Excellent stuff – This place just keeps getting better and better
michelleduerden
Just uploaded a photo to my group and it has come up on my art as well. I already have this image there, so is on twice now? How do I add to a group without adding it to my own images as well??!!
Thanks.
Benjamin Scheurer
I don’t think that is possible, Michelle….
tambatoys
Michelle you just put your pic in edit mode and tick the box of the group you have joined:)
Vonnie Murfin
I am thinking of a group for Others. For example: hats, shadows, furniture, and etc. What do you think?
Mark German
I think I may be missing something here guys.
Ok, so I found the groups via the link above, joined a few, edited my images so that they are ‘in’ the relevant group – now what?
How does one access a group?
Is there anything unique at all about groups?
Is there a forum of some sort to discuss imagery/writing?
Any links anywhere that take you to a group?
Confused…
Nicole Chaffey
I’m so excited about these groups! Thankyou!!!! :oD
Deborah Bowness
I wasn’t sure how these groups were going to work at first, but now I’ve joined up to a couple, I’m addicted already!! Like I needed something else to be addicted too huh?! It’s an easy and fun way to see other peoples work in an area that interests you….Well Done Red Bubble, you just keep on getting better and better! :D Is there going to be a B&W group soon?
Rich Gale
Just emailed for a landscapes group please!!!!.
Benjamin Scheurer
well….I can understand Mark.
For example….I heared there’s gonna be a landscape group.
If you’re looking for landscapes you know that everyone tags
it as “landscape”. So you type in “landscape” in the search engine and get the
result.
For some groups ( I don’t mean all….I’m sure there are gonna
be some interesting ones) it doesn’t make too much sense.
Mark German
Hmmm – so , if I do a search for ‘landscapes’ now, won’t I get landscapes?
lol – I must be thick or something.
Melinda Kerr
Any chance groups in the future will be able to have their own forums? Totally appreciate the rffort RB but a bit confused like Mark. Am I missing something?
Mark German
And by ‘now’ , I mean ‘before’ ;)
michelleduerden
agree, nice to have a group that is dedicated to one genre, but would be nice to be able to comment on work & communicate with other members of that group too!
peter
Melinda – yes and reasonably soon. What we have released today is version 0.1. We’ve got a lot more planned for groups …
Damian
For the writers, a short story group is also up.
Welcome to Spherical Scriptings, a group dedicated to short stories.
This group is a home for short stories and their creators. Take us on a journey – explore dark depths, or leave us laughing in delight. All genres of fiction welcome. Participate! Write!
Julie Langford
Great concept, easier to look through the different themes on RB.
marieancolie
Superb !!
Happy to be there, and will participate actively.
This will allow anyone to meet more people/photos we may not see.
Merci RedBubble !
waiting for the following step :)
Faizan Qureshi
We will have access to creating our own groups in the future, right?
Lucindawind
what about a group for non photoshop users ( like me) but use other graphic programs ie PSP fractals terragen etc
dendoo
it would be nice if we could have a mini message board or some sort of communication thing whether it be just a couple of topics within the group. something to communicate within the group. but i’m loving being able to find more work that actually appeals to me. i used to feel so left out before…now i am more at peace. yay!
Cathie Tranent
More bits and pieces on the whole “groups” thing right here in the forums!!
Benjamin Scheurer
I would love to see a message board for non-members who bought something
here by the way…
Craig Goldsmith
Ben – I’d be surprised if non members would use it. But maybe some would like to leave a thank you.
Robert Elliott
Do photos of birds fall under Exotic Animals or Wild Nature?
Benjamin Scheurer
well….I would add it to “exotic animals”, Robert.
Robert Elliott
Thanks Benjamin
lightsmith
Lucindawind – I have requested such a group. I called it ‘The Digital Interface’ and it is non-exclusive – any software and any skill level is welcome here. It has not been created yet because I requested it after hours – assuming of course that it gets the go-ahead.
Lucindawind
thanks lightdsmith
gordontant
@PETER & XAVIER
Hey guys, just like you put the add to group bit in edit/upload artwork. can you put it in Journals too, this would mean we don’t use writing to put information about our images
sorry for all in bold, just wanted it to stand out to you guys…..
Sharon Ulrich
I just had a few suggestions for the group feature. Maybe I’m just being dense, or maybe you already have these ideas on your list, but anyway. I’d like a way to monitor group activity on the MyBubble page. Just a quick, X new users/X new works. Nothing fancy, just enough to let me know I should go check out the group again. Also, a forum link on the group page would be nice. Great job so far!
Mandy Moore
Love the development of this site – well done! Could the fractal artists have a group too, please? Our numbers are growing!
lareejc
wow! I love reading all these things. I am going to have to learn about all these groups more. Sounds interesting! not sure where to start – but I’ll find it!
Martin Mullen
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I feel there should be a Black & White group.
Heather Rivet...
fantastic
lareejc
So – where or how do I find these groups?
Pilgrim
The groups are here.
And in answer to questions. New groups will be added each day as people contact us and ask to form one. So just wait. They will go live at about 2-4am London time.
Forums should be live within groups next week.
If you want to form a group contact earswideopen@redbubble.com
SpaceCadet34
Good news indeed. I wish to create the group and thinking how people would like to post their work in group…well done Redbubble!!
Deborah Bowness
Just wanna say how much I’m lovin’ the groups! Fabulous idea! What I particulary love is If you want to buy a B&W image, go to the B&W group, a picture of a cat, then go the Pets group etc etc, and also being able to see the work of like minded Bubblers!!
Lauren Zorn
Is there a quick & dirty way to pop over to my group from “My Bubble” ? Something a little easier than Community & scanning through the threads looking for a possible link ?
Sherri Hamilton
I love that there is a grouping, great idea!
