Always On and Beyond
I was very pleased that RedBubble was selected by Always On as a top 250 global company. As part of this I got to go to Stanford in the US to talk about what we are doing. The audience was the press, venture capitalists and folks generally interested in emerging companies.
I will be honest it was great fun to be back in Silicon Valley talking about what you are doing. And here is what I had to say.
You will notice that we, unapologetically, will tell people about sales on RedBubble. We can do this because we only make money, when the artists on RedBubble make money. So when we celebrate our success we’re also celebrating your success. It is a core plank in our standing for artists. This is very different from sites that have advertising or subscription driven models.
In this regard one of the most important things folks can do is to find ways to work together. “Sharing the Love” is a great project like this. The premise is simple a a chain of interviews designed to share the love by asking people about their creativity. Let’s see one another through new eyes and discover the source of creativity and inspiration. What makes you creative? How does your art impact your life? Who inspires you?

P.S. – There was a little mini release this morning – you’ll notice a new activity event in mybubble new topics in my groups. This ‘feed’ will show new forum topics in your groups – making it a little easier for you to stay in touch with what’s happening in your groups. It’s part of a longer term strategy to make it easier for you to find activity and work on the site that’s relevant and interesting to you. You can add this feed to your ‘favourite feeds’ and it will be included in the default list you see each time you land on mybubble. There’ll be lots of new feeds popping up in the next few weeks …

That’s all great. I think that sharing the love is important, but there are more ways to do it (and we can find EVEN more) than just interviews.
Many people write journals introducing an artist they like and I have tried an extension of this in a Limerick forum
I have also tried this by inviting others to participate in Interactive journals also here and here
Another linking and sharing of love is happening right now in The Tuna Tin project. RB is great. Interviews are great. I’m not saying these things for shameless self promotion….but to show that interviews are not the only way to share the love.

Great Job! I have to disagree with one thing, though. Members visiting three to four times a week? No no no, three to four times a day!!!!!
It’s the first thing I do in the morning (it’s 6.30am here and I’ve been logged on for 1/2 hour), it’s the last thing I do in the evening and I’m here at least once during the day. I just can’t wait now until the kids go back to school so I can actually do some more work for my site.
Keep up the fantastic work. I’ve been a member for a month, and I don’t know what I did before.

You guys looked great and did great! What a presentation. I’m proud for you all!!!! You are the best site i have found and you have made a nice place for eveyone to pull up and park their art and show their very own show in ONE Very BIG SHOW! I’ve only been here since April and the fast pace of changes has amazed me and encouraged me to talk to other artists and enjoy this beautiful picture show!
