It absolutely includes writers. We cannot think of another word than “art” which is meaningful. “Creativity” is just a bit too soft a word and it doesnt give the right impression. Writers, Singers, Actors all talk about “their art” and that is the art we are talking about.

Oh Robert L Fox we stand. (although I have paintbrush in hand too). what exactly are we going forth with here?? But yay!

I am coming up soon to a year on here and I have to say it has been a really great year for me . Nowhere else could you find such a great bunch of people all in one place . I found you by total accident and it was one of the best days I have had . Keep up the excellent work , you are really appreciated .

Great to be a part of it! I live a bit socially isolated, and at RB I feel like in a family, or simply having great time with friends :) (though my husband is not always happy about all the time I spend here… ;))

I was on spymac, very disillusioned then a member on there mentioned redbubble both myself and hubby joined august 07 the rest they say is history, I’m a host of two wonderful groups with simply the best members and through the months can certainly see a change in my work for the better and wanting to try new things, its the best community ever which is the backbone, well one

What sparked this Mission Statement?
I embrace the bubble whole heartedly and assumed this had been stated when it started – last year the year before??
But I must admit to see it reinforced again is decidedly special :O)
As for the question of what is art / who is an artist? I was always under the impression that Art is the product of creativity not necessarily for any purpose other than to connect with the emotions of an audience. And an Artist is someone who focuses on creating that product to the standard that they are happy to display. That would include all crafts as well.
Thank you RB for giving all artists a gallery in which to display receive help and perfect our art and if we are lucky to sell some :O)

Art expresses something which is sometimes only missed when it is taken away. Like the white fleshy pith of the orange, often overlooked next to the strong scented outer peel and the juicy sweet flesh, but so integral a part of the structure of the whole, that without it, the orange could not exist.
So with that i thank you for holding up the pith and declaring it’s importance, it’s magnificence, and our dedication to it.

In a day and age where everyone has such convoluted, high and lofty “Mission, Vision and Values” statements, I applaud Redbubble for these sentiments. It really caught my attention the title “Where we stand”, then the text itself *We Stand:. . . *. Beautifully put. If this were emblazoned on a bright red t-shirt I would definitely buy one or two and proudly wear the colours and share “where we stand”.

Can it please be an annual thing that we can all have free invitation to [small $10 surcharge for Melbourne based artists I guess others have the cost of travel to consider] and thus celebrate the community that we are in the most serene community environment in Melbourne – the birthplace of RB!

Great developments on the art side of the bubble!!! But I am with DBA, good writers are becoming disheartened and most are not posting their work here much anymore. Yes, the community is very nice, and the support in comments is OK, and I have lots of great friends here, but in reality there’s just not much of a future here for the serious wordsmith as it stands now.

Writers, painters, photographers…we are all artists…and It is wonderful to have a place where the world of self expression through art is treated with such respect…thanx RB

I love being a bubbler too! I’m wondering if there is a way we can promote the sales aspect to the broader public a bit more…Whilst the community brings me joy, one of the things I was most excited about when joining up was the possibility of selling work…I feel that maybe it’s only us artists who really know about this site?? I’m thinking hotel chains wanting to redecorate, corporate bodies too busy to seek us out who might use us as bonuses for their employees….any other ideas from anyone??? I think the service Bubble provides is fantastic (good quality products) but under utilized!

I’m a newbie here. I already love it. Browsing through the galleries reveals endless treasures. Thanks for this site and lucky me for getting here. I hope to learn all the tools and maybe make a few friends along the way.

I’m full on amature with a Sony Cybershot. Quality is what it is, but I like to think I picked up my Dad’s eye. He was a freelance writer and photographer, even 16mm films. I like to see things from new perspectives.

There are a great many reasons for my being here and one is that I have made friends and met many diverse artists here that I feel welcome and as another bubbler said I to have abandoned other artist sites which I was a part of to remain here. Three Cheers!!!

Redbubble is a good place for artists to come together and get feedback on their work, and there are thousands of such activities happening per hour. The problem that I see is that the number sales that occur on redbubble is about 150-200 per day. I am not sure how sustainable this site is going to be, considering they have to host all these pictures and a small fraction of which is being sold.. At some point I expect a limit on the number of pictures one can upload or have on display, or even worst case this site becoming a subscribers-only site like other sites.

Just to give you some comfort because the cost of storage is so low and we strongly encourage people to only upload their best work (and most people are very good about this) the storage and bandwidth costs are contained. The economic engine is much stronger than an ad supported social network.
