Release notes - Bulk Deleteting BubbleMail and a Preview of the RedBubble Private Site
Hello! Another week another RedBubble release.
This week there’s a couple of new things – the ability to bulk delete BubbleMail and a sneak preview of a the RedBubble ‘private site’. The private site is designed to allow you to create a site showcasing just your work.
The thinking behind the private site is that RedBubble needs to evolve into a much more dynamic website. Everyone wants different things from RedBubble. Some folks are here for the learning, some are here to sell, some are here for the positive feedback, some are here to be entertained. Et cetera. We’re never going to be able to create one static site that satisfies all needs, so over the next little while we’re going to evolve RedBubble into a much more dynamic site that people can tailor and adapt to suit their needs.
The private site is still a few weeks away from public release, but we’ve got a very very early beta product ready for today and I’ll like to show you all an example and ask for your feedback. The example site can be found here and I’d particularly value general feedback on the new configuration menu which appears to the right of the large images (the menu is still a work in progress) and the options you’d like to see us offer in the private site as we build it out over the next couple of weeks.
And finally we stumbled across this review of RedBubble a couple of days ago. We love these reviews and they’re great for improving the Google rank of RedBubble and all the work on RedBubble. So if you feel like writing about RedBubble please ‘go nuts’. The more links back to RedBubble the better. You might also want to check out all the tools for linking to RedBubble available here.
Have a great week!
ChainmailChick
Layout’s very nice (but I’d expect that from you guys). Is there a possibility of subgalleries within the gallery?
melodious
ooohhh… love the private site!! Bring it on!
Tony Lin
Very nice… looking forward to using it
Jim Caldwell
The private site idea is brilliant.
Can’t wait.
Jim
Kristie King
Sounds Great!!!
SkyFox
This sounds like Heaven!
Lindsay Berman
I think you are in the midst of creating something wonderful for everyone, especially for those who want a more intimate showcase of their work. Congratulations on your new daughter!!!
Natalie Perkins
I really like the idea of the private shop front, it’s kind of like imagekind. I really dislike imagekind for isolating the artists, so I appreciate the community aspect to RB. However I’m a bit sad about the community page changing to just activities.
I’ve written about RB in my blog and I always try to flog it any way possible :P
jenndes
Will the watermark be on images within the private site if that preference is selected within an RB member’s profile? I think it’s important that this feature be available. I also would like to see the ability to have categories within the gallery.
RedBubble replied
Yes jenndes – the watermark (and clear gif) will also exist on the private site.

Private site is very cool.
Jan Landers
how very cool this is…..great idea! looking forward to it…..thanks for all that you do…....you sure have a beautiful baby girl…. :-)
David Haviland
I like where you are heading with the private site.
ltruskett
Bulk deleting bmail is fantastic….........boy looking forward to that. Read the review, so correct and on the money…..............we are a fantastic community, that would never have breathed life without you guys and your love and commitment to the site…............thanks.
Angela McConnell
i really like it – agree with the above comment about sub galleries, if you have more than 2-3 pages it could be discouraging for the buyers to find what they are after in your portfolio
A+++ work though guys – cant wait for release
Karl Denton
Bravo on the private site! BRAVO!
theyellowfury
This interface stays don’t it? Whoever came up with it is a freaking genius. Navigation is totally fluid.
dimarie
looks really good so far!
Will we be able to change the background colour from grey to black?
or white? grey isnt a very complimentary colour for alot of work.
I’d like to be able to choose the background colour…
also sub categories would be very helpful for those of us who have more than one medium…
congrats on your daughter, she is a real cutie!
Sharon Hammond
Private site – fantastic idea – I hope you will be charging us fee for this.
Mark Tisdale
I also like the idea of a private shop. And I echo the request for subgalleries – and I’d like to be able to put the same work in multiple sub galleries, i.e. it fits more than one target.
First reaction checking out the beta. I like that the shopping options are right there on the page when you view a work, but I would like it more obvious that they are shopping options. I think some less savvy potential customers might not home in that they can click those options and buy them – I like how large the buy this buttons are in the current version. Don’t want it screaming it, but that one is a whisper! LOL!
Also wish that hovering over the pictures on the preview page would give you a little of the description text – looks like it’s repeating the title that’s already beneath? I’m thinking along the lines of how hovering over featured works in groups lets you see the little pop up box with details. :-)
RedBubble replied
Thanks for the feedback Mark.
BlueKnot
Excellent!
Regards the ‘configuration menu’, two things leap to mind: The ‘No Border option for the matted print looks more or less like ‘Black Border’. Perhaps a dashed line around the page background color would be a better indicator of ‘No Border’...
Also, I think the menu needs attention drawn to it; it isn’t immediately clear what it’s for until you play with it; and not everyone has the geek instinct to poke it and see what it does. Perhaps just a label that says ‘Purchasing Options’ (people love options!) ... and/or a box or different color to enclose the menu and the ‘add to cart’ button.
Just my 2 cents; looking forward to what else you have in store!
Dave Lloyd
I really like the layout and the menu at the right is intuitive for someone who has used RedBubble. It may not be so for someone who hasn’t. Just my thoughts.
JenniferB
Myspace is a great place for promoting better places… ;-)
Not sure about this whole ‘Private’ Space thing you’re setting up yet, but then I haven’t looked into it all to be able to form an informed opinion… It’s just that the word ‘Private’ itself tends to send shivers up my spine… you know… like all ‘Exclusive’ sounding? but like I said, I haven’t looked into the ins and outs of it, but all I know, is generally, once things begin to start sounding all exclusive, invitation only, rating dependent, blah blah blah, I tend to pack my little ho, overnight bag, and discretely step out into the darkness to stand under that pretty red light once again… ;-)
Steven Guy
Excellent. Nice work “A” team
BlueKnot
Oops, the third thing… next/prev picture is nice; but there needs to be a clear way to return to the gallery overview from large pics (the gallery link at top was disabled at that point)
Dennis Jones -...
Folders and or tabs would be a must to be able to keep things sorted out… Awesome looking beta site…
Dana DiPasquale
i would really like to see a little line (border) of thumbnail sized images running along the same page where one piece can be viewed large
DanDumas
Great idea the example is great and i liked the menu placement
Elf Evans
This is totally a breath of FRESH AIR, will music also be possible, just a thought.
coppertrees
great job you are doing
braidy
WOOHOO for the bulk delete!
Lisa Kenny
i tend to agree with what Mark Tisdale said about the purchasing options… so i’ll just copy and paste ~
LOL!
PurePhotography
the beta site, first off, color scheme. Too gray, dull. put a lil cosmetic upgrade to the links on the top, Color scheme and the proportions of each div , needs work.
Keep up the good work
bmckain
I already have my own private web site but this one looks like it has everything you would need to do eCommerce. I guess my question would be will you start preventing photographers from providing links to their own sites as many do now or will you treat the private sites as an additional feature?
RedBubble replied
Hi Bob – we’ve got a very open attitude – people can link to whatever site they want to.
emmmee
This is a great idea and a good write-up.
Alison Johnston
Hi Peter,
The new site looks really nice :-)
Are we going to be able to add individual albums/galleries that we can name ourselves ?
Disenchanted
I think I like the private gallery thing. Aside from the sub catagories as mentioned above the ability to link a domain name of the users choice would be a good thing as well as being able to customise the layout (maybe via CSS?) as is the way for places such as WordPress, MySpace and the journal part of a person’s DeviantArt account (although you have to be a paying member to have this ability).
It will certainly pave the way for more individuality however I am wondering if when this becomes active… will we need to upload our images to our normal RB account and then to our private account seperately or will they all be linked??
Also (just another thought jut before I pressed the Add Comment button… the opportunity to add a banner of some sort? I know that I would like to have my ‘identity’ seen in a space like this so it maybe matches my other web locations?
Great work guys and gals.
Lots of love to the RB Machine.
RedBubble replied
Hi Disenchanted – cheers for the feedback. You won’t have to re-upload all the images. The site will use the images you’ve already uploaded to RB.
incredibleting
I’m loving the private site a lot!
lex7
So how do the private sites coincide with our regular redbubble account.? Will they replace them, or are they an addition? Will there be a fee charged? What about personalizing the sites so that they are more likely to be picked up by search engines as duplicative sites are considered spam.
RedBubble replied
Hi Alexia – they will complement the existing gallery. On RedBubble we’ll have all the community / commenting functionality. The private site will be much more streamlined. We’re thinking that the private site will be free.
John Robb
Probably the things I’d like to know would include: would the private site take over from your standard bubble profile or would it be an additional site? Would there be linkage from one to the other? e.g being able to check a box on the standard bubble profile to say “show this artwork in my private site”
Otherwise looks good and i can imagine this being a wonderful way for a few of us not having to resort to a separate publicity site.
Tara Sheffer-A...
This is an excellent thing for us all!!! I love the fact we will all be able to do this now. Only one question though. Will there be a block on right clicking and saving images anytime soon? A lot of sites have that feature especially for photography.
andrew cowell
Fantastic progressive idea – I really like this!
FWIW I’m not so keen on the daughter window for the zoom view – I’d prefer it centred on the page and much larger.
Well done :-)
S.I. Sheehan
Peter, the new version of ‘sales’ looks great. If RB is not already in the consciousness, well, oh well….. Private, I would like to know more about that….. Does that mean no one else can see it…..? Hmmmm…. Are we not here to exhibit…..? Peter, the review is nice, would love to see it go way beyond….. ~S
JenniferB
Thanks so much for the bulk delete… :-)
Kimberly Palmer
It just keeps getting better and better. Thank you! Can’t wait… it looks great so far. =)
Jason Laderoute
I think that this is super, great idea, it is simply professional looking, very clean, love the dark gray backdrop, looks real slick. I think it is an excellent addition to RB and will serve to Satisfy many people. I’m with everyone who would be interested in idea of a private Gallery Page, I’m sure the Bugs will be eradicated, and everything will be super tip top. Great Work and thanks for the awesome efforts
Scott Ruhs
Looks very promising.
Stephen Colquitt
Hi Peter
You have nailed the beta-private site. It looks great and has very good potential. Im looking forward to having a play with it when you unleash it on the community.
Sandra Chung
Looks good. Really like the layout.
Ok, on a different subject, there is a feature I would like to see on “My bubble”. When you look at your art, you have a numerical page navigation at the bottom of the page. Is there any way to also have that navigation aid at the top of the page, so you don’t have to scroll to the bottom to get to a specific page?
Jazzyjane
Thanks guys for all your hard work
Madeline M Allen
You guys rock redbubble !!! BRAVO ! I also like the idea of a private shop. And I also echo the request for subgalleries – and I’d like to be able to put the same work in multiple sub galleries. Thanks Mark , for your words lol! I could not put it better. I would also love to know of the hop , who buys my work. So something to show that would be great in this new space. Maybe a box of to the side that shows all of your sales , that the public can see. I think this encourages sales. Interested buyers like to know if you are worth investing in.
Tom Vaughan
subgalleries very impt. Can’t wait!
Patricia Montg...
Really looking forward to the private site – good job!
chasingsooz
I like the intimacy of the private version and could see it being the commercial arm of my existing website.
Danny
who changed the avatars?
RedBubble replied
Glad you noticed! We’ll change them every week or two … nothing stays the same around here!
reflexio
Great idea…...As others have mentioned, multiple galleries would be great. Would the calendars be available on the private site? Also, is it possible to determine the background colour of individual galleries?.
botanicali
Looking good… thank you!
Zack Nichols
Right on!
MaKayla Songer
I kind of like it, but I also like RB the way it is. Would all the galleries suddenly look like this or would you be able to choose between the ‘private’ galleries and the way it is now? It definitely looks much more professional. I agree with some of the others though, I would really like to see subgalleries in Redbubble.
ruckyboy
The private site works for me, very easy and self explanatory to move around in.
Great work.
Murray Swift
here goes RB again… heading off in the right direction :)
Great Stuff! Even greater with sub catagories and ability to add our own branding?
Daniel J. McCa...
Brilliant idea! Would definitely like the ability for sub-galleries. Also, as customizable as possible w/ layout, fonts, colors, etc… so that people’s “private sites” (especially the “Main Page”) could look unique and different.
Great work!!
Colin Hollywood
The private site is exactly what I have been hoping for – a sales tool without the RB community “clutter”!
Samantha Cole-...
Yay thanks RB… i have now been able to clear out 20 odd pages of bubblemails… Thankyou thankyou thankyou LOL
Beta site looks fab too.. nice going!
xx Sam
Jules Campbell
Ooo lah lah! Lovely!
Few things from me;
1Could we include more info on exact sizes of prints and matts and frames?
2 In regards to sizes info could we have a choice of dimensions (just like choice of currency) ie mm or cm and inches?
3 What will the http address be? Will it be simple enough to print on a business card to promote and direct buyers?
Looks wonderful so far and I will be doing my bit to promote redbubble here in Northern Territory, Australia over the next few months.
Wendy Slee
Firstly, that review on redbubble is very much well deserved – I could not have said it better! As for the private site….BRavo! Another great RB innovation and one I will look forward to using….
I agree with suggestions about about sub-galleries, ability to individualize home page etc
lastly and most important…Peter your little girl is adorable…..I hope the joy just continues to grow!
Mike Emmett
Release a complimentary RedBubble Wordpress theme, and I’ll instantly delegate a subdomain to sit alongside my regular site for selling my work which points to a private site like this. It’s near-perfect, and I’d use this look and feel on my personal non-gallery pages as well (which are wordpress-powered)
kahulani
yay, I cannot wait for the private site! Looks good, I would love to see sub-galleries, too
alistair mcbride
The private sites look great, the product previews need to have the size off each product,ie matte frames and such.cant wait for it to be up and running well done guy’s!
SnowDog
Peter on the private site please change the aspect ratio of the icons of the images in the gallery to rectangles rather then squares. Unless RB is going to start printing Polaroids?
I like the whole idea behind this gallery thing!!!
Dreamcoat
Great ideas!!! I like the idea of having a “separate” site. That way people wanting to sell can focus on their work and customers won’t be so likely to go off and look at other people’s work (not so easily).
benj
Great stuff! The private site is exactly how I envisioned it – except for the aesthetic nature. Dull gray is too dull, but I am assuming you’re leaving the look of it to last. You’d wanna get the mechanics right first.
Creating customization options for the visual style of the private sites would be quite a bit of work, I’d assume. But then again, I’m sure everyone would like the option to at least choose: bg colour, font, font colour.
Anyway the actual structure of the thing is damn fine. A+, RB.
Dreamcoat
Another idea is perhaps to incorporate a more “dynamic” gallery like http://www.airtightinteractive.com/projects/autoviewer/ there are also other ideas out there. So when the customer clicks on the image it goes to the page where they can choose which format they’d like printed / framed, etc.
AlienVisitor
Site looks great, sub categories for calenders,T’s,books etc,sub galleries for different mediums.

PJ Ryan
excellent growth all ‘round !!
... fabulous review too :)
nancy dixon
fantastic idea! You guys are doing great.
Aloramyst
Ok I guess I get to be the nay sayer. I hate the private gallery site. I already have a personal website, and this would be like have another personal website. It will be lacking the feel of community involvement which is present in the current set up. This division of redbubble I feel will have many issues that may not be profitable in the long run however that is just my opinion. In dealing with other pods that have a similar set up as to what you are proposing with this example, many great works of art dont get seen. I feel this needs to go back to the drawing board with more discussions of how why it needs to be done.
RedBubble replied
Hi Aloramyst – thanks for the feedback. People don’t have to use the private site – we’ll still be keeping all the existing site functionality.
Shelley Heath
Private site looks great but I would agree with others about the need for sub galleries with these linking back to the main gallery and also the ability to customise the background. Well done.
Aloramyst
However love the bulk deleting option! : )
Lazarita Betan...
I like the idea I wish I would be able to move around inside the site making my own layout. I believe this would enhance the site. In other words click and drag.
PJ Ryan
does this work for writers too?
i’m a bit confused to be honest about WHAT a private site offers that isn’t offered here?
blonde moment (and i’m brunette)
could someone spell it out for me please?
Stacy Rodriguez
I would like to know if public view is still going to be possible w/ this site?
RedBubble replied
Hi Stacy – our thinking is that all the existing site functionality will remain – so your public view will remain.
PJ Ryan
In other words click and drag.
OOOH ! NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL !!
ralph
excellent idea. the private site thing. as already suggested – it would be great to have some sub groups. customizeable backgrounds & fonts would be great too.
greeneyedlady
love that bulk delete thing….and the private site looks like another redbubble winner!
Lorraine Creagh
Yay….......Private sites, sub galleries…all good. Thanks guys
zacco
well thought of bubble , good work
Helen McLean
BRIL-LI-ANT!!!!! Private site is wonderful so far!
Mel Brackstone
I love that you guys just keep making this site better and better. Really looking forward to the evolving storefront, I’m sure it’s going to make all the difference!
Junebug60
going to be a great one. Awsome. Cant wait to use it.
Mel Brackstone
Oh, and I think the community page should switch from Daily Wrap, to activities, to buyer’s booth, to journals and then to forums every week…...in rotation. I’m sure there are many many people who have NO idea those tabs are even there…...
carol brandt
I had a look round the private site and while the set-up looks great, the branching off went over my head. Do you mean contributors will have a page in the usual RedBubble, plus their own page in the private site? If not, what are the advantages and disadvantages of being in one or the other? Do I sound like I’m having a blond day? LOL! I’d really like to understand these differences. You guys do a great job. I only joined this site last month and I’ve never been so inspired. The work here, and the quality of Bubble products is fantastic.
Sam Ward
I like the private site idea. Just a couple of comments:
– I would like to be able to customize the colors used to text / background
– the new configuration menu is nice, but its not always clear what its doing. Particulary when it is refreshing the image (maybe it needs to give some feedback)
– The only way I could find to get from an item back to the gallery was the use the back button (should be able to click on the gallery link at the top to get back)
– Sub galleries would be nice.
And 2 general comments. Some people may want the option of using their own URL’s to get to the private site (i.e. typing myphotos.com into the browser). Has this been considered…
Secondly, I think the thing that will also help make or break the private sites is the admin site that we use to setup the private site (which is obviously hard to demo).
My 2c worth anyway.
Wil Southers
this should be great guys, thankyou and keep up the good work
Lynn Bawden
I think the private site idea is great. Will the public still be able to view our sites? ...Lynn
ChainmailChick
Maybe instead of ‘private site’, ‘personal storefront/gallery’ would be less confusing?
Yes, I do agree with those who asked above about being able to customize the colors (background, text, etc) to our own preferences to give us a little individuality on them.
I’m also hoping this is like Finerwork’s set up…where you have your portfolio on included in their ‘community’, plus a personal gallery/storefront, which you can just check which works you want included in it from your member’s area.
I see this as a nice plus, am also curious as to whether there’ll be a fee, or if it’s just another great perk to being a member here?
I LOVE this site, love all the friends I’ve made here! =)
Douzy
wow you’ve really outdone yourselves here – very impressed, didn’t think things could go that far.
Dayonda
Peter, this looks really good. You’ve thought about the ‘front door’ that customers would come in to say, “Well, I was looking for something in pink”, or “I want a picture of a mountain lake in China” to make it easy for them to shop? The beta’s setting up to be great for us artists to use. The thing is, we could use ties to big interior designers to use and point their customers to, and for that, it has to be super easy for them. We’ve got to get the ties as we meet people. I think I’ll turn my realtor on to RB for ‘dressing’ homes. -=Dayonda
C J Lewis
The new Beta Site looks great and works wonderfully. Love the idea of the print size, layouts and prices shown on the right of the actual work. It’s quick, clean and to the point as a selling site. Well done :)

aabzimaging
Like the idea of “private” site – maybe we can call it portfolio? looks good for a start, like the subdomain infront of redbubble.com – great! don’t change the colour-scheme – it is about the art on the site not the site itself! don’t add a music feature since this will slow the site down. this a great plus about redbubble.com – it is f”$§&* fast!!!! awesome job, guys!
subcategories would be fantastic, for people with a larger folio.
think also about detailed classification on first gallery page like most popular, most bought, most commented and the ability for the artist to change the first photo/item to be displayed on entry page, for push sales.
new detailed page is very good – makes ordering more simple and easier to understand. thumbnail feature on top is confusing.
please do something at the back end section (not the public view) as well. right now organising art can be time consuming if you deal with lots of items. some suggestions:
ability to sort artwork for most viewed and commented
ability to display all artwork on ONE page instead of multiple pages (optional feature)
bulk edit of art (e.g. to change mark up percentage or to delete multiple)
*direct link to group rules within the artwork upload to confirm if art fits into group (maybe this can be a “mouse-hover”-thingi.
apart from that – this site is fantastic! i had it bookmarked for almost 4 months without looking at it and i really regret that i have waited so long to upload my portfolio.
PennyEdwardes
This looks fantastic! I think some subcategories for people with alot of work to display would also be a good idea.
Apart from that…..brilliant!
Kelly J
Looks great – excellent idea!! And love the mark & delete idea! I used to spend hours going through deleting bmails!!! Saw it this morning and went WOOPEE!!! Thanks!
Paul Lindenberg
Looks great! When can I start? And yes, there should be a way of using keywords to catagorise and find images. Take a look at Adobe®LightRoom© Beta 2.0 for example.
Makeba Kedem-D...
Pretty much everything I would have mentioned has already been mentioned, so I won’t repeat. If I think of something new, I’ll come back, and until then, good lookin out redbubble! peace…

is it possible to have the images scrolling across the page somehow, to allow people to quickly browse without having to click Next and Previous multiple times? Then perhaps a Stop Scrolling and Continue Scrolling if people want to have a better look.
Bradley Miller
I’ll echo the request for subgalleries. The ability to change the background color would be nice, but certainly doesn’t make or break the deal.
The menu on the right definitely needs to be more obvious and perhaps simpler. There’s not a lot of stuff there, so I don’t think you really need two tabs and two drop down menus. Many non-computer savvy customers might not figure it out so easily. So my vote would be, make the menu more obvious, less complex, and add an obvious “Add to cart” button. After all, the point of a separate store front will be selling – let’s not be shy about it!
cloudsdreams
peter please count me in, learning the digi art, kudos great yet since i left eponadreams behind, then got my bubble head back have been working hard to catch up on digi photo and more with self tutorials. so i for one would consider this grande’ learning from pro’s shortcuts and how to get around. well all i can say again is count me in and bulk delete is awesome to my way of thinking. i would love to have someone tell me what or why. dont get much of this on regular site, which i love. just sounds good to me. thanks

Great and exciting news Peter….looks great , I love this new look and ideas.
You guys rock !

Personally, it’s too early yet for me to form an opinion. The private site is appealing but you know it will definately have it’s draw backs.
Right now it reminds me somewhat of PBASE. I can’t help but wonder too how long it will be before we pay a membership fee…
BigFatRobot
Well done crew! What I love about this site is the fact that the community is always looked after.
Lisa G. Putman
Bulk Delete couldn’t have come at a better time, I need to clean house, yeah! I love the new private site idea. I agree with others a name like “storefront” would be a preferred name. I love the gallery and buttons. I would like to see a prev and next buttons next to the icons, page numbers for jumping would be sweet! Like others have commented, Sub-galleries or categories would be helpful, to categorize, such as Barn Series, Wild Cat Series, or Black & White gallery, etc. While some customization would be nice, such as background color, font, placement… I think keeping it fairly simple to use would be of most use to the majority of folks who may not know how to design a website / webpage.
I love the woodgrain thumbs for the frames…I think this is extremely helpful. You may already have this in mind, but it would be great to be able to link to other pages at least on the home page, like the RB overview page is now.
I’m so impressed with the ideas! Great work guys! I look forward to all the new goodies that lay ahead for all bubblers! Yeah!
Benjamin Padgett
I like the private option. But if the gallery can be private, then I would like for the shopping cart to be “private” as well, otherwise it may confuse customers and make the private option a moot point.
I would also like to have the option of using our own domain somehow, perhaps with a CGI script or something like that.

THANKS !
F. Magdalene A...
very interesting concept. i’d like to see it developed a little further as well. certainly a great idea to have private that links to the RB site.
jumpy
Looks good.. I agree make the BUY ME stuff jump out a bit
AND
In the gallery it’d be good if T-shirt designs looked like tee’s (not just square boxes) ???
cloudsdreams
just signed up for the one, look forward to bubbles. hope springs

One very useful feature for a private site would be the ability to tie any domain name to it. It works thus …
1) Being a tech-head, I set up a DNS entry on my domain registration (say, “myart.mydomain.com”) that points to the redbubble.com IP address. The redbubble servers start to get web requests for anyone hitting that domain name.
2) In my account settings on RB, I’d enter a setting to indicate that myart.domain.com is mine and therefore should show my private site when the web server sees such a request.
3) Profit! :)
The devil is in the details, but I’m happy to discuss this further if you need more info. It looks like you’ve already got some fancy DNS autoresolving. Question, will roger.redbubble.com always wind up somewhere sensible (be it my private site or profile page), reliably enough that I can use that URL on promo material?
Robyn Carter
I’m also quite keen on subgalleries, but also a slidesshow option – so people can sit back and view the gallery via slideshow if they so wish.
Background colour would be great if it could be dark/black as it really showcases images.
Cheers
Robyn
DBALehane
Am sure this will be of benefit to all the artists and photographers here. Not sure it adds much for the writers amongst us. When will writers start getting some proper developments that recognise the valuable support we bring to Red Bubble? Or do we forever remain the poor relatives in the RB family?
contango
I have been waiting for the private site for so long. Extremely excited to see it’s nearing completion. It looks great so far!
jenndes
Awesome – thanks, RB. I’m quite excited about the private site and can hardly wait to get my hands on it!
Wesley Picotte
Hi there
- the design/usability of the private sites is fine. Everything is so simple -kind of a no brainer. In fact, it’s so simple that it takes away some of what makes RB so intriguing—at least from my POV. For one, we’re currently able to do creative things in our profiles, like feature card images and the like of our work. Secondly, the comments/favorites features are a huge viral component to the current site and the private sites seem to blot this out. The ability to explore the site so fluidly via these features is both a teaching aspect as newcomers figure out what this site is all about, and an exceptionally effective way to see a lot of really amazing and unique work in only a few mouse clicks. I know you said early beta, so maybe these components will be added in? I hope so!jerry alcantara
wow! this is soooooooooo coooooooooooool! thanks

Perhaps the sub-category issue could be satisfied quite simply by putting symbols under the thumbnails to indicate which products are available for that design. Also, on each individual product page, eg for a T-shirt, I think the thumbnails above the ‘T patterns’ should only take you to T-shirt designs as it is likely that the viewer is, at the time of viewing, looking for T-shirts. This might be easier to achieve than having completely seperate categories although as RB grows it could become a little cumbersome. Thanks for all your hard work.
Alan Findlater
Private site cool idea more choice off background colors though, sub galleries might be a good addition as well. overall a great move forward by RB Team
Darren Robertson
I love the idea of the private site, but please i would like to know more about the editability of it.
will we be able to embed flash files of our wor etc: are you going to create editable modules for us?
nkbellani
...looks superb at my Facebook!!!...pls bring on all the new ideas soon…

The example of the private site looks wonderful …
a very exciting and important part of bubble growth!
linkd links links and reviews … “sounds great”
Paul McClintock
The private site looks very promising. I’m hoping it will be highly customizable of course, but so far I like what I see.
Ben Ryan
When this goes live, you’ll be able to admin the content of your site from within “mybubble”. So that means you can change the intro text on the front page, choose which of your works you want to feature on the front page, and edit the content of the “About” screen.
Initially at least, the look and feel will probably be static, but it could be a future improvement.
The private site is essentially for selling your work, so only works that are able to be sold will be included in the galleries. Alas, that means writers probably won’t benefit unless they do what some people do, and upload their written work in sellable formats.
The private sites will also be optional. You have to specifically set them up in mybubble, so if you don’t want them, you can just continue to use your regular RB profile.

just looked at the linking tools for the bubble ... absolutely fantastic!
thank you RedBubble :>)

Very nice…. only concern is the VERY large image when you click the zoom, again, would love to make sure we can put a water mark across these to protect our work. Also I take it that the groups will still be happening? Also I echo the concerns about the colour, definitely black or white, and I think for readable pages in the journals, you really need to stick to white. Black and white text is very hard on the eyes to read for any amount of time.
And also, sub categories, so we can group themes is a must for searching.
You guys are so dynamic, keep up the awesome work. I think this is the only site I know of who CONTINUALLY progress there development.
Shaun Johnston
Very impressed with the unbranded site.
mariemadeleyne
It sounds absolutely great !
Kurt Tutschek
Lookin good, thanks for the great work – but subgalleries are really a MUST (really!)

LOVE the new personal gallery opportunity! Thank you! Great ideas!
Can it be possible to sell our books and music as well in the near future?
Your devotion and promotion and support and enthusiasm are appreciated….so happy to be a part of RedBubble and its growth!
booboo
I love the concept of a private gallery and by and large you have achieved it the only thing I would change if anything had to be changes is the colour of the background. Maybe let the user have a choice of tasteful background colours
Jordan Miscamble
The private site is great. Easy for navigation and use.
BubbleDoll
It is awesome to see RedBubble evolving! (^^)

Absolutely fantastic!!!

Just brillant…..well done guys….....:0;)

Reading your description, I had a bit of a problem with the title “private”. At ArtWanted there’s a “private” area, protected from general view, which is intended for members to exchange and presumably sell pornographic and other “graphic” material”. The word “private” – even without the AW association – a slightly sleasy side.
Questions:
1. Does the introduction of this system mean the phasing out of selling or buying via the main site?
2. How is a potential buyer to be made aware of it if he/she is not an insider?
3. Up to now I have not found an artist list. There is also no search line to connect a real name as opposed to a pseudonym with an artist. Will that change?
4. Wouldn’t it be more honest to call these “private” areas “shops”?
5. What is the proportion of outside sales to those between friends and co-members of RB? A hyperthetical question, of course.
I’m at the end of a long line of comments, so maybe you won’t get down as far as mine …......
carnivalclothing
awesome, looking forward to the sites..!!
Chris Clark
looked at the beta site and looks really good.
I would however agree with faithart’s comments above
Leeo
Absolutely love the private site idea…..can’t wait to start using it! As it stands, I don’t think the options for viewing prints, cards etc is very user friendly at all, which is counter productive to a site that is meant to encourage sales….but I’m sure it will evolve into something more user friendly by the time it’s up & running. Not too keen on the grey colour or the word ‘private’, perhaps ‘personal’ or ‘inner bubble’ lol, but I love the front page set up :) WTG guys, love watching the Bubble evolve.
Al Neaimi
Hi Peter , the privite site is a super idea and much needed , i was wondring if you some how able to add design tools for us to use in the privite site so people can chose the look for their privite site, and also HTML .. just an idea ..brillant looking forward.
DJ Fortune
The whole idea of the private site is fabulous! I’m, totally, looking forward to using this kind of site.
Leeo
Something else I forgot to ask….Will we be able to create ‘sets’ for the front page like we can now on the profile page?
Paul Pichugin
With the obvious aestheticly challenged aspects of it aside.. I’d really like a sub-gallery option.. I’ve started using redbubble prints for my wedding clients as you are cheaper than I can get it done locally.. to be able to seperate galleres in to categories would be awesome. that way I can have my Landscapes Gallery and then my Weddings gallery.. if there was a way of creating further sub-categories that would be even better..

Great idea about the private site, very cool…. The layout looks great, cant wait for it to go live
Sandra McNabb
Cool, love the idea
Caroline Evans...
A grand idea ! possibility of music would be fantastic, and a code to disable right clicking and image theft , by making the photograph become “xray”like or other ,when the mouse passes on it! as it exist on other sites !
And may be a possibility of diaporama.
HTML would be grand too! but !
thanks
heist
those private sites are mad…
i’m very curious to see how their implementation will alter the ‘bubble.

The private site looks very good. I think users should be given a few important choices, though, like a choice of some background colors. For instance, I don’t really like the mid-toned grey. I think it sort of swallows the image. Darker grey or black makes images pop more; some like white, too. So, I propose that users should have the ability to choose a color within a monotone range. (Don’t want to give them full control, or it’ll turn into MySpace, of course.)
I really like this idea, and I think it will cater to many users’ needs. It will definitely set RB apart. I commend you guys for realizing that giving users a little freedom from RB’s branding when it comes to their portfolio will actually equal greater things for you. You’re the first art site that I’ve seen realize this. Others have tried, but ultimately they’ve been too afraid to let go, to take the risk, and users have ended up with “professional portfolios” that are highly branded by a company that isn’t their own. I imagine this will result in greater sales for a number of users.
In relation to this portfolio idea, though, I’d like to know if the RB team is ever going to create a way for us to easily plugin our items for sale into our own websites. As it stands, there is that promotional tool, but it is not a script, just pure HTML and CSS, and that means I have to update it each time I upload something new that is for sale. I couldn’t see myself doing that, so I never installed it. It’s be great if this were scripted to be auto-updated as we upload more. This would result in giving users without a website the choice of using the RB-hosted portfolio and those with their own websites the choice to (more) easily insert their items.
Anyway, this is a great job, and I can’t wait to see it implemented. I’m proud of RedBubble! It’s grown so much, and it continues to amaze.
Durotriges
well done RB. The public gallery looks great. And crucially, a simple, uncluttered interface. Look forward to it!
Cathie Tranent
First up … thanks .. these look great.
Initial impression … nice and clean and clear.
Home Page: Ben answered my question about the customisable home page.
If you were to have that View Gallery button, it could probably be a bit bigger, with an option to have it at the top or bottom of any text on the homepage.
Sub galleries would be a definite plus. It would also be good to have a tshirt gallery as opposed to an art gallery, much the same way that they are tabbed at the moment.
The configuration menu is nice, but could maybe do with being a little more spaced out, and look a little more like separate selections that need to be made.
I am assuming that the card view will be on a transparent background, so that there isn’t the white square showing up that there is now!!
It looks great – and I can’t wait to have a play with my own!!
Oh and as a last ps … customisable headers would be lovely!!
Philip Golan
The private site loooks great. Clean and simple.
Gino Iori
Great idea !
Elana Bailey
The private site is a great idea and looks fab. Most of my questions have already been asked by everyone above me but I too would like to know will we need to upload our images to our normal RB account and then to our private account separately or will they all be linked, please?? Keep up the great work. Cheers Elana
Tim Hatcher
You’ve done again people! Great idea for the private site!
Juilee Pryor
wow that is really really great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AdamDonnelly
The private site is a great idea. So is the bulk deleting. Its fantastic to see you guys coming up with fresh ideas & improving on all your past ideas. Congratulations on the review too. You deserve it!
Cathie Tranent
Oh yeah. And thanks for the bulk delete. I might be game to wade through the 48 pages I have sitting there now!!
Linda Syms
Fantastic, you always come up with the goods great work Red Bubble
Judi Corrigan
As with a few of the queries above..will the Privat site link from standard red bubble & vice versa. Review is well deserved…Great work guys
myoriginalsin
I love the idea of a private site, although are you going to make it look prettier lol? I feel like the big rectangular image doesn’t look as good as the 9 individual squares we now have on our profile pages. I also think a white background showcases photos a lot better than a gray one. Oh and sub-categories would be great!!!!!!
AdamDonnelly
Would it be possible to have a select all group bubblemails when bulk deleting. Bulk delete’s great but that would be even better.
Faizan Qureshi
LOVE the private sites! Awesome work guys!
(I’m very sad about the community page being just activities…)
Daniel Rayfield
toop notch guys!!!! The sites will look great but does this mean our art is separately showcased on both sites or will all our images go onto the sew sites? Looks the part though
Richard G Witham
I like the idea of the private site as an ad-on, maybe even for a fee, for those who want it … but a lot of people will want to continue with the community atmosphere that now exists with RB.
I just set up a private web page last week because I wanted to set up galleries, a catalogue page, etc. and drive more people to my work at RB.
I also agree w others that subcategories will be an important addition.
Great thinking … moving forward, forward, forward :)
Carole Russell
Nice and clean – maybe you will put on it where else the artists work can be seen and purchased?
Richard G Witham
Sorry: 4am here and I’m just emerging back to the world of the awake. Looking at your replies to other’s I see the private site will be in addition to current RB.
Great job!
Lpixel
that’s weird! was only thinking yesterday – wish I could bulk delete bmail! :)
Sara Lamond
Looking great – I like the new config menu for the products!
Oh, and I made use of the new delete immediately :)
Martin Pot
As has been mentioned, I think the term “private site” is a bit of a misnomer. Maybe something like “personal branded site” or something is more appropriate?
The popup window that occurs when clicking the “zoom” link is a problem, as many popup blockers may block it (and I get annoyed when websites open popup windows).
I think the configuration menu (for selecting size/print type/colour/etc) is a little “clunky”, and is not intuitive to use. Initially I thought it was an IE6 rendering issue, but it looks the same in Firefox.
There’s also some minor alignment issues (ie, alignment of price and “add to cart” button), but they’re minor.
I’d also be keen to see some form of stats available – ie, number of hits, referrer details, etc, so that people can see how effective their sites are.
So when do you start accepting volunteers for beta testing? ;-)
RedBubble replied
Cheers for the feedback Martin – we’re still a couple of weeks away from more general beta testing.
MDossat
RB is awesome and it just keeps getting better. This is the best site/community that I’ve ever been a member of. You rock!
Tracey Mac
Fantastic you guys, you really do a fine job. The Gallery idea is really great but a few colour choices would be good too, but not too many. Would be nice to just to have a little individuality with each gallery.
Excellent work, congrats :)
JP Davidson
It would be great if we could catagorise our work into folders or sub galleries.
Belinda "Billy...
Enjoyed the interview and loved the new private layout, I can’t wait to get mine, its modern, tidy, direct and classy. No extra buttons or logo’s or advertising..I like it a lot. Maybe a stronger colour in there, but otherwise its great. Can’t wait to be involved in the “evolving bubble”.
Mike Savad
well, i have larger fonts, and the top most fonts overlap the line in the background, especially the prices. the prices oddly loaded last, i thought there wasn’t any at first.

Thanks for this feedback Mike – we’ll look into it.

It looks very suited to my needs as well. I like the idea of Galleries and reall7y like the buy options you have set up on the page. A great step forward for RB. Congrats!
Jaybe
Love the new private site idea and it looks really good. I’m so impressed with the way you listen to ideas and then move them forward.
Thanks for the bulk delete option in Bubblemail too!
Naylor
WOOOOOOOOOhoooooooooo a private site is a GREAT idea !!!!
Thanks Peter for all that you do here for us at RB :) ((((((((HUG))))))))))
Kathryn Potempski
love the private gallery , look forward to the finished product.
great review ,I have R/B linked everywhere .
GloriaDK
Thanks Peter, yes you are all doing a good work, subgalleries would be good and all has been said….exciting.

A subdomain is a great idea, looking forward to seeing the end product :))
Anthony Comella
Another TOP SHELF presentation! Awesome Idea!!!!

Hiya Pete!
Nice idea…I think my thoughts will echo aot of those already sent your way, basically that sub groups within the gallery are I think pretty essential! I notice that alot of people have managed to pimp their Reb Bubble page…unfortunately Im a bit of a spaz so if you could amke a little more simple than rocket science for those of us who are a little feeble brained….It would be sensational!!!! Thanks Babe and CONGRATS on RUGRAT….VERY CUTE!
Anne Staub
Very good, excellent idea, yes subgalleries would be needed. The layout of the facility showing the different options to buy the image is very fast too.
Haven’t seen the bulk email deleting facility yet, but THANK YOU!!!!! :)
And, enjoy the baby stage, it does not last long, the next stages are very good too though! :)
Wildwings
After reading the review, RedBubble can be justifiably proud. I am looking forward to the private site. It’s exciting. Wish you luck with all your endeavors.
totty23
Seems like a good idea but i think it too early for me to really have much of an opinion on yet. Not to sure yet on how people would find your work either or is there be groups such as flowers, buildings etc as this would narrow the searches and catagorise stuff.
sam
binjy
THANKYOU for the bulk delete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
I don’t understand about the ‘private’ site yet… so won’t comment.
Hard working people… you do a good job!
Dave Pearson
I notice that the page links and the next links in the “filtered happenings” views appear to be broken (they don’t take you to the next page of the filtered view, they take you to the next page of the overall view).
I’ve sent a fuller report to support.
Aloramyst
” People don’t have to use the private site – we’ll still be keeping all the existing site functionality.” I am glad to hear this, what about using this style set up for the groups? I may not be interested in it as a personal site however as a host it appeals to me for the groups. Another question, transferring and uploading existing images. Will I have to reupload all the artwork again to this “private site”? Having over 1000 pieces of artwork on RB presently and still adding, that will be a real pain to have to redo it all one at a time.
RedBubble replied
That’s an interesting idea … I think the first step will be to create this for an individual but if there’s enough interest we could look at extending the idea to groups. You won’t have to re-upload your work to the private site – we’ll use the existing library of images that you already have on RB.
mjaniceanne
I I think the private part looks great as long as it isn’t isolating and you are still part of the community, also different sub-galleries would be good and different colors for the background. Looks good though, might be tempted to test-drive it!
CameraObsessed
Im actually right into this idea. It will be fantastic to showcase our work. Will ther be little linky things like we currently have so we can advertise?
linifer
It looks great, clean looking with no mess. Look forward to seeing the next stage
Damian
The private page is a good idea, sure. But to me it feel very corporate, and reminds me of a stock image site. Could it be ‘warmed up’ a bit?
I’m very sad to hear that the writers aren’t getting anything still. Ben’s suggestion of making our writing into an image to sell is obviously of no use to short stories.
Having the option of buying writing should exist (even if the only reason is for artistic equality; but why can’t it be profitable? I’ll buy a bucket load of writing the instant the option becomes available), whether it’s as a ‘story single’, as per Vignette Press style, or multiple written pieces as a compilation.
Anne Staub
The baby stage comment in my post related to Peter’s baby posted on there, not the site! :))
mikeshannon
For a beta and an idea – good start. Maybe tags could be integrated to sub the galleries? Like the idea of a personal domain. Personally I would like to use something like this to promote sales.
Aloramyst
Off topic a bit with a suggestion. If RB decided to publish books, that would be a wonderful addition to the products already available, this would appeal both to artists that would like an strictly art book, and to writers, and for those who would like to collaberate a book together. I know another pod which I will not mention has the option to publish your own book, however lacks the creative pool as such is found here on RB. Plus that private site you are experimenting with would make an awesome bookstore. Just food for thought and perhaps a hope for future expansion products here on RB. : )
Phil Thomson IPA
Peter and ALL the other guys at RB, you never cease to amaze me with your initiative and creativity !! This weeks news is great, the Bulk Deleting is wonderful and relieves all the frustration of mail clearance. The Private site is a “Knock Out” and extremely professional and it is wonderful news that RB and the community are held in such esteem with such glowing reports, Bravo Guys !!!!!!!! Keep forging ahead, as you are leaders in this field and a fine example to the world !!
pauito
I think is a great idea. Better simple than complicated. I know that if it’s too complicated then people would not search around and it will make it hard for those that want to post their work for sale to get people to the site. In my opinion simplisity is good.
Let me know when is ready so I can get my site.
Leith O'Malley
Can’t wait to see this up and off the ground guys… more power to you!!
Shannon Rene' ...
ah, bulk delete…i heart redbubble!
Mike Finley
one thing I hope is going to change is the shopping cart … at present it looks as if you’ve suddenly been whisked off to a completely different site, which isn’t going to inspire confidence in new visitors
Aloramyst
Last suggestion, a bulk image uploader! Please!
jon1977
Awesome! Sub-categories would make the private site thing even better.
Jennifer Vickers
Hey RB seems youve been busy busy busy again. Anyway….like the bulk mail delete that is always a grand option. Not to sure if I wish to put my two cents in yet on the private site at this time. I am sure more info will eventually be given out.
bodhicittatees
This gallery site is really pretty awesome. I love the way you guys think and do stuff, you are so on the right track. Keep it up, but take a break too!

been using the “tools” on my own website diamondwillowdesigns.com for a long time now and on Facebook to link my friends back to redbubble, and they use it :-)))

RedBubble is incredibly unique…the idea of the personal site sounds great, as long as it does not destroy the incredible dynamic you are enjoying right now.
A lot of the suggestions above are fantastic, and I’m confident that in the unlikely event you don’t come up with a product that makes everyone happy, they will sure let you know ASAP.
ByrneFoto
Awesome work guys, the Private site looks fantastic!

I love the idea of a private site and other stuff you guys have going on. Will it be easy to do for the layman such as I? Still have some trouble in doing things that I see other people doing on their bubbles.
Brita Lee Mikl...
Good, excellent and wonderful! Cant wait to see the finished product and I like tht you are developing it with Redbubble community input.
mingtees
The private site is wonderful, really awesome. Just a nigle or 2 -first off, a choice of templates or colors would be nice, ie grey, black, white, whatever. And on the t shirt pages, it’s great that it looks like the description is back on the buy page. But what’s nice about the way it is now is that all of the info about AA shirts is on there, it would be nice to have an “i” button or something to click so people have all of the info about AA, sizes, styles, etc that’s on the page now.
Elizabeth Fox
everything looks great.
Bevsimages
Keep up the good work…
1.Can we when uploading pics have an option at that stage to put into a file ie…
browse, upload, file name : Flowers so that each upload can then be segmented into different files easily.
2.The T Shirt / clothes templates dont seem to compatible with us novice newbies…Can we select one of our uploaded images & create a T shirt on here for future easierwithout template, just keep simple ie, unise round neck short sleeved, v neck, etc
3.Bold Colour / title / image borders for uploading so we can show off framed/canvas/black back ground images withour copying & pasting info…just by clicking on a drop down menu & pressing enter maybe…
Hope these suggestions make sense, not very techy although other sites like “spreadsirt” & “MySpace” have the first 2 above requests independantly already…but I much prefer Red Bubble… x :))
Bevsimages
point 2 should say unisex not unise…
point 3 should say without not withour…
& Spreadshirt should be at end paragraph not spreadsirt…
This is me without a drink, must be the sunshine lol x ;))
JuneHolbrook
You may have to add the above mentioned ideas slowly…Love what ever will make the site easier for the public to find our work… I am new here and find it a little clumsy trying to find all the works of one person Not sure how a shopper can see the art work of a new artist on RB who has no following … All in All it looks like RB is on the ball for improving the site.
Nacho Garcés
I like most the ability to comment works from other people. I have not seen it clearly in the private site. Is it disabled or will it be as it is in the standard view?
Seth Weaver
The private site is eloquent and simple, making it quite effortless to navigate and shop. Beautiful baby, Peter. Excellent job on both, Peter.
lpm1471
KEEP IT SIMPLE, love the idea, but find that the easier to navigate a site the more time will spend on it.
Keep it up.
Lee
Roy barry
What about links to other sites? I do quite a bit of consultancy work and some of my clients have allowed me to add links to their sites-would this be possible?
M G Pettett
The private site looks great! And the menus to the right of the big pictures look pretty simple too. I don’t know if it’s against RB’s policy but I think that a record of what’s been sold and how many times it’s been sold could be useful not just on the private site but also on the main site.
simonmsmith
Looks good. Would it be possible to transfer a domain name? I already have another site with The Artists Web: simonmsmith.co.uk. They charge a lot for doing very little. Could I transfer this? What are the costs involved? Thanks
RedBubble replied
Hi Simon – we’re looking at this – it may be the sort of service we have to charge some money for to cover our costs – but we need to do a little more investigating before I can provide costing.
lightmonger
Hi that’s a great idea & i would certainly be interested. One point worth mentioning though.
I dont think it is likely for a prospective ‘buyer’ to register with RedBubble to buy an artwork.
Would in not be a better idea to allow ‘Buyers’ the freedom to Search, View & Buy with Visa etc without registering as members. It in some way is a barrier to potential customers.
ALSO : Will there be an option to sell Calendars on the microsite. again seems odd that we can produce them But cannot view or Sell them ?
RedBubble replied
Hi lightmonger – buyers don’t have to register with RB and calenders will be available for anyone to buy. We’re holding of building the calender functionality until closer to year end.
Mark Hannaford
I am sure that I am reinterating what other comments have said but the abiltity to organsise images into types or subjects like ‘family’, ‘africa’, or ‘me looking cool!’ ect is something that i am missing on Redbubble at the moment
AndyReeve
The grey background makes the pics stand out even more and love the layout, Sorry to keep pushing this one but like the new features in groups a way of placing similar pics into sub folders with one as a changeable avatar as it were. This would work really well with groups. Waterworks covers several sub-subjects and would be handy when it comes to promoting the group to the outside world/media etc.
Gaina
Oh yes, I like the private site idea! :)
Lisa Weber
Wow this is exciting!, Id love a private site! Looks great and Thank you for finally adding a deleting bulk to our bubblemail, i bet with everyone who has 100’s of pages it will create more space for you guys once everybody deletes their unneccessary ones, I know for me it was about 80 pages!
keep up the great work RB!
Loredana Crupi
You guys are so on the ball! brilliant concept. brilliant tool !! Thanks !!
ozlat
i know many are happy with the private site idea but the layout is not up to scratch… i created a site that looks better and this first version (hopefully) will be improved on!!!!!
Alison Edge
I like the idea of the private site and it will be very interesting to see how it progresses. Sub galleries would certainly be very useful. Keep up the good work!
Craig Hender
Awesome idea, cant wait to use it. I agree also with sub galleries and being able to change colours.
Well done guys, awesome work.
Taschja Hattingh
Love it. Would also like the sub galleries But otherwise GREAT! Black backgrounds – saves energy…
socalgirl
I love it and look forward to it. Great idea.
Derek Flynn
Agreed with the many requests for sub-galleries and color options but, otherwise, damn—you guys keep getting it right! I’ve never been happier to be a member of this community.
Sean Farragher
fantastic idea
Heather Rivet...
you read my mind..that beta site is what I am looking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I said you rock….!!!!!!!!!!!!
bronte
This is great. love it. Can you have both private and public?
aphoto4you
LOVE IT give us option of passwording it too….so we can give access to those we wanna give access …..
Rebecca Brann
Definately loving the private site!!!!!
Marion Chapman
Great idea.
on first viewing the private site it is very obvious that this is all about selling the art – so that is excellent.
the option were all very good, easy to navigate.
my only criticism is the option when you are purchasing a print there were 3 buttons:
S
M
L
this was a bit confusing. would prefer to have some details there about how small is small, etc.
Route64
Nicely done, my suggestions would be …
Sub categories would be nice, a choice of background colours, grey is a bit drab looking, and the possibility of having more than one piece of work featured on the front page.
Sarah261226
love the ‘you have nothing in your cart – go buy something’ bit
David Meacham
Hi – Bulk delete brilliant – probably a good weight loss programme for your servers too!
The gallery is cool – the grey background is exactly as it it should be and shows of the pictures to the best advantage – it looks easy to navigate too – I’ve had a few people to say to me (non computer users) that the RB gallery as it stands now is a bit difficult to follow.
I’m looking forward to these being available – assume they’ll be free?
Thanks guys good work as ever
Take care
Meach
DigitalDelights
It looks great, easy on the eye, easy to understand and easier for people to buy.. good work.. I’d love a subcategories in there too, can’t wait for the calender builder =) love the bulk delete too..
AndyReeve
Not only but also I like the idea of the title and the description appearing below the picture. Many peeps don’t read the description stuck were it is up in the corner. And it may contain a helpful hint or what ever.
Also love the zoom so you can take an even larger view. Great stuff.
Lyn Fabian
I agree with comments about sub categories. Otherwise it looks great.
bonniemonahan1
Hello,
I quite do not understand how the Blog can work as a personal site.
Perter’s Beta Website is very nice, however I feel photos, etc should be in 2 places (the 1st 4 to 7 days after it is uploaded, 1. In the general category for reviews like “New Photography” for comments plus in 2. personal website. The personal site should show the stars/points received (ratings) while in the General site for 4 to 7 days.
I suggest that you ADD a “Spell Check” for any place people write a comment!
It is DISTRACTING to see on the top right a Thumbnail of the previous and next photo!!!
Where a person looks for: Framed Print, Mounted Print Card, etc – I strongly feel they should be “Pull Down Windows” when a link is clicked (it might be harder on you at 1st, but after you have done it create a templete for yourself) this should make future buyers and recent Redbubble folks happy campers. Right now it is tacky (NOT pleasant) to click on an item and to see another item VANISH.
In that same location, I saw all but Glossy prints, WHY?
I trully feel the RedBubble Team are doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! Please keep up the good work.
Take care, Bonnie

I don’t envy the person who has to go through all these comments and suggestion … but here’s my 2cents worth …
1. I think this is a great idea because I’ve said it before I don’t like clients viewing the comment section.
2. I do like the way it looks, and I think no matter how user friendly you make it there is always someone who won’t know how to buy something …. one of my relatives for one !!!!!
3. I don’t like it saying Peter’s website … its the website bit I don’t like because it is not my main website … I will be linking to the private gallery so that I don’t have to have a shopping cart on my site and people can buy from this great place. So maybe it could say Peters Artwork or Peters Gallery something like that ..
4. Sorry don’t like the new community page …. I was just getting used to the previous one. Seeing what people are doing is not really that useful to me IMO ..
Great job guys and gals .. just love it here :)

very cool, was just about to ask for it ;)

I like the idea of the ‘private’ gallery thing. A few people I know who aren’t on RB have made comment about all the comments people make.
I’m unsure about the square images for the gallery. I know it’s what we already have and it makes it nice and neat, but I think a lot of people assume that’s the whole artwork. I say ditch the squares, or make it an option rather than just how it is.
I like the price range underneath, it’s obvious but not overpowering.
People are asking for subcategories or something, and while I don’t know if I like it as a way of making it easier to browse hundreds or thousands of images, I DO like the idea of being able to do a series or a body of related work.

AWESOME!
Love the idea of having the private site, very professional. I have been a member since March 2008 and I gotta say, it’s been a fantastic ride in a short time. There are so many unbelieveable people and talent on this website. It’s been like a breath of fresh air for me, to be able to connect to so many wonderful artist from all over the world. Keep up the great work, because like the old saying says, ” United we stand, divided we fall.”
Let us conquer the whole market, Red Bubble Artist!

This is very exciting news about private sites but it would be moreso if able to categorise.
I’ve hesitated about posting more for quite a long while but what you are offering now is fantastic. Thank you!!!
Andrew Brown
A fantastic concept. The fact that the comments can not be seen in the “private” site is great. Keeps everything looking clean and sharp. One thing I noticed is that once you start to play with the purchase options you cant return to the preview or default view easily for that individual image. You only have the zoom option. Key issue I guess for most will be the level of customisation available and how easy it is to manage for non- it savvy individuals.
It will make a great alternative to a personal off RB hosted website or as a sales portal to link to.
Well done, as always.
Tim Stringer
One thing I noticed when I was playing around with check-out is that the actual size isn’t shown. S, M, L are fine but don’t really tell me what I’m buying.
JANE McILROY
Everything that Andrew Brown said above, plus one more quick comment – it seems that once the user goes to view their shopping cart, they’re taken out to the main RedBubble site, with no link back to the private gallery.
I’d like to see a private shopping cart with a “continue shopping” link back to the private area, so users can add other items to the cart if they want to. If people go to my private area, I’d like them to stay there as long as possible!

Cann’t wait to see all the updates soon…I check out New Media IT WAS A GREAT Comment for us at RB.

More than enough has been said by the people above, so this is all I can add:

Private site looks good, bulk delete is fantastic just used it so much quicker. The team are fantabulous and thanks for all the hard yards {>:

is there some sort of way we would be able to customize the private site? you have to admit it’s a bit on the blah side. some of us, myself included, have made little banners on our profile pg that take you to categories of artwork. would we still be able to do something like that?
Erhan OZBIYIK
I guess we already have our own private life in here; by writing and uploading some scenes from our lives.. But more private d not be bad who wants to have… :)
Congs..
Thanks :)

Brilliant work..I am impressed.well done.

like it, is it possable to run the home page picture as a slide show of your art
dkag
Great idea, go for it

I think the icons in the footer should be desaturated or even greyscaled. As they are they are too distracting. Apologies to whoever designed them: they look great, but are out of place on this page.

I like the private site, think its a great idea.
BuddyH
The beta looks great! Can’t wait! Kudos on the review, I’m proud to be a member! Now, if we could just resolve the matter of poeple taking our images to other sites.
samtdesign
Everything looks great except I feel the colors and look can be more bright.
DanielMartin
Very cool But brighter colours
Or Even
Bing Bing! New idea for you
Have interchangable colours, which only the site holder can change
Katja
What a wonderful idea!! Can’t wait ! Thanks!!
Leslie Battjes
Beta version is a great start. I agree with many about the potential changes they’d like to see…thumbs visible on the side when viewing large…more obvious sales tabs…folders/tabs…etc. Really great job so far. I’m excited about the possibilities. It’s nice to be a part of a site that really puts its clients needs at the forefront. Great job! :)
John Taylor
Peter this is very cool!! i look forward to seeing it evolve.

The customised weblinks for cutting and pasting into ones own website are a clever idea. Well done.
I’d like a ‘reply’ button in the bubble mail that uses the thread of the subject I am replying to [like normal email] with the option of including a copy of the email I am replying to in the reply [again like normal email]. If these options are available already I have missed them!

My personal comments about the new facility are:
I don’t like the size selector which looks tacky and doesn’t add anything beyond the usual drop down list;
Maybe this selector would work if the S, M and L buttons were different sizes, and if they were arranged all horizontal or all vertical;
I don’t like the pop-up zoom window, but if you keep it then it needs close and buy buttons;
I would like to be able to continue to use my considerable investment in tagging to organise my gallery and make it filterable;
I would like to be able to continue use the excellent and simple to use redbubble text formatting codes to add images and links to all the text areas;
None of these are show stoppers and I will happily use the new facility as first presented and continue to give feedback on how well it works. I also realise you will not please everyone whatever you do, making it most important that you build in plenty of flexibility as indeed you have done with the main site formatting codes.
So the most important thing is for you to continue to use the RAD approach and not try to deliver everything all at once and continue to respond quickly to feedback and bug reports.
Good luck.

love the private area idea, especially for people who don’t have their own websites.
agree with revad (above):
the pop-up zoom window, but if you keep it then it needs close and buy buttons.
the selection menu didn’t seem to be working properly when I looked. The SML of the framed print options obscured the other menu options.
I do like the clean, uncluttered design, although the grey BG is, perhaps, a little dull?
it’s a great start.

Bulk Deleteting BubbleMail – excellent

Excellent Idea, This is something I would prefer and use for sales. Thanks.

great idea, like it, looking forward to having it, thanks

Love the private site idea, can’t wait to use it and wonderful that we now have bulk deleting, thank you RB fantastic work as always :))

I am brand spanking new to Red Bubble but know a great thing when I find it! I love the idea of a private site. Will one be able to offer t-shirts and calendars as well from this site?
Cathy Gregg
It looks very nice. I have the same question about calendars as Connie does. I was on Lulu before and dropped it as soon as I found RB. I love this site. Also, will we be able to click to the next message on our BubbleMail instead of having to reply or delete the message. In case nobody pointed it out you can’t go to the next message without clicking on BubbleMail again and then clicking on the next message. It’s not dire but would be easier if there was a “Next” button.
~ HEIDI HORVA...
U guys are just brilliant! VERY nice!.. Keep up the great mastery…
DeeprBlue
I’m loving the idea! This might really help those of us (er…like myself..?) who are trying so very hard to find the time to get their own private site up….great idea! Thank you!
Christopher Chan
Great idea with the private site !
cloudsdreams
hi again peter, joined the wordpress site to get the hang of blogging and such. found it very easy. cannot wait, would love to sell work. i know of a popular site not that i will mention. the caliber and workmanship is labeled one in my book. so i see this as something more than one can dream of thanks janet
Gnangarra
Interesting I like the private site idea
1…Will there be a cost to having a “private site”
2…will images be viewable through both the current rb format and private sites
2.1..can images be exclusive to private site or RB
2.2..can a person cross while viewing on RB to the private site or the reverse.
3…will a viewer be able to purchase from multiple private sites
also agree with other comments about sub galleries, will it be possible to create calenders of our images available for public purchase.
Mike Connor
Excellent idea and as usual a fantastic implementation!
Avril Jones
The Private site looks very promising, and there have already been some very good suggestions above. I’d love it if it was still free, as RB make their money out of selling the prints etc. There are a couple of things that would be very important to me:
1. I would want to be able to point my own domain at the private site, with no reference in the URL to RB, so it looks like it’s quite simply my own, personal website.
2. I don’t like the way the shopping cart takes you right out of the private site, into a very obvious RB page, with no obvious navigation to continue shopping on the same private site. It could make a customer hesitate in their purchase decisions, perhaps going off for a browse around the rest of RB, then becoming indecisive and not buying anything, or changing their mind and choosing someone else’s image instead of their original choice, ie of my work.
I suspect I’ll end up continuing with building my own site and adding a ‘buy on RB’ link until I can sort out an alternative ordering and printing system that carries less risk of losing my customer just before the checkout.
David Roman
One thing that would be really great is the possibility to change the back ground color from either Grey like you have or to White or Black ! And a thin line around the photos like you do when you laminate. I think Black would be classy and the option to change your back ground color would maybe make it more personal?
Just an idea…. But other wise its wonderful! Really really cool!
David Roman
Oh one more thing Avril Jones has a good point because I was thrown out and was a little confused while shopping. But I think shes made some valid points. But I don’t mind the URL having to do with RB because its your baby and I have a private site! But free is a good idea at least for the members you have now and all others must pay! :))
Hows that Avril?
David Roman
Oh and theres a guy above me who says he would love to have a gallery section on his site so we can group our work!! Thats a fantastic idea ! Because what I see now is too small to hold all work unless we are limited to the amount of images ! But that would be really a private site and worth charging new members for!
Atreju Hood
I am thrilled about this! Totally love the idea and can’t wait to see where it leads! Bring it on! :) Thanks
Clare McClelland
this is the answer to many an artist’s dream and hopefully by the time it’s all put together we will have a wonderful private page option – thank you for continuing to keep up to the minute with artists needs.
Will you have a music option soon?
Lynne Mettam
I would like to add my comments to the chorus of Ayyyys ..Love the idea and the layout.. will have to be a winner for all of us.
MKWhite
Layout looks great, would love to see sub galleries though.
Lucan Netley ...
love the idea of the private page, bring it on !!!!
bchrisdesigns
I think the gray background washes out the images. Maybe a darker background… or maybe giving RB members the choice of what color background we would like to use?
Also, sub galleries or categories would be helpful…. I and many others often try to categorize our shops by making categories for our work using tags but having an actual categories tool would be a dream come true! This way, people could put all their nature photography in one area, all of their urban photography in another, etc. Or people could create gallery collections, as in “Black and White”, or “New York Photography”, or “My Trip Down Under”, etc.
Just ideas….
Oh yeah, is writing going to be featured here as well? You guys should include writing (or at least making it optional), because some people on here only use RB for their writing and then they would be left out.
picketty
re the beta site…please make it possible to change category names. I made two spelling mistakes in mine and there is no way to correct short of deleting the whole category and starting over….otherwise I think a great idea but could we choose background colours? the grey is a bit bland.
Crowmanic
would like to have a bulk delete, multiple selections then Delete, to quickly cleanup my gallery …
Christine Till...
Usually I received about 20 or so bubblemails per day and 2 days ago I cleaned up and deleted all of them after reading.
After doing this I no longer get any bubble mail at all.
Does anyone else have this problem or an idea what went wrong?
TIA
DREAM CATCHER/...
How can we delete someone that is on our watch list .that does not even have 1 photo up in 4 months no photos at all at that
