Living Doll

A doll was what you wanted,
a pretty little pet
to dress in crinolines and lace,
forever in your debt,
with big blue eyes and curly hair
and blessed with quiet grace,
a live tabula rasa
on which to paint a face;
a little girl without a voice
so you could write the script,
a female Pinocchio
whose strings you’d never clip.
But Fate wrote a new act into
the human comedy;
you didn’t get your living doll:
instead, She gave you me.

    and sometimes what we get is ever better than what we want.

  • So true, Scott. The sad part is when it’s neither recognized nor acknowledged.

    I have been left….hungry of more imagination affected on the face of the new “counter-Pinochio”..the surprise effect…it has made me smile, and presume how does it feel to take those strings and star moving them and him..without any apparent resistance…!!!
    Great done, Gina!!

  • Many thanks for you insights, the strings have long been clipped,but only through mighty effort.
