in my dreams
the world falls away
and here you are
flesh singed by the sun
wearing nothing but
your scent
oh lay your body down
on mine again

it’s a good thing
what goes on
behind my eyes
is mine alone
hidden from the world
for when your hands
roam up and down my skin
stars explode

now whatever madness
was between us
is done for good and aye
but nothing will wipe
those honeyed memories –
though they were only smoke –

“Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved before,” or something like that as I recall. The honeyed memories no one can take from you…. Another very honest and expressive write. Well said!

  • I wonder about all that sometimes…thanks, Joe.
