gag order

i’m keeping myself to myself
my words bring only heartache to the world
and jesus knows the world is drowning
in heartache enough already
i need to center
i have been tossed to the winds of circumstance
whirling freeform and directionless
i hear nothing
the silence guts me
so i too shall be mute
but never mistake my silence for uncaring
it only means i can say nothing
that anyone wants to hear

I know what you are saying, Gina: often I do feel my words fall on deaf-ears—ears that retaliate whenever confronted by truth or difference. What’s that saying? “No good deed goes unpunished.” Time after time I am tempted to go to that mountain, spend my time in solitude painting and writing. It is a heartbreak. Even when my words are wrong or false, it would be so nice to be forgiven as I do many others, realizing none of us see things exactly the same.

  • Sometimes it really is just better to bite one’s tongue than to argue with fools or try to prove a point which in the end is pointless….
