Originally built as an inn in the 18th century, this ornate homestead on the green in Tolland, Connecticut is now the Hicks-Stearns Family Museum.

In the late 19th century, the original exterior was refurbished in Victorian ‘Painted Lady’ style. Gingerbread trim was added, along with a three-storey tower and a new carriage house. Over time, three generations of the Hicks family occupied this residence.

Today it is a museum filled with heirlooms and other family memorabilia; the museum is included in the Tolland Green Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Digital oil painting after an original photograph shot November 13, 2010.*

Tech specs: Photoshop, Filter Forge, Filters Unlimited, Xero Moonlight, a layer of DAP over a layer of Arkvis.
