A wonderfully hand-decorated, painted but more than well-used straight chair occupies a corner that is separated from the rest of the room by the heavy draperies of the canopy bed next to which it sits. My first thought upon seeing it was, “An Early American time-out chair?” I really couldn’t think of another reason why it would be set off from the rest of the room.
