Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, celebrating her 60th anniversary on the throne, was held on June 20, 1897. It was a major event throughout the United Kingdom and the British Empire.
Alas, that entire week in London was visited by extreme weather – severe thunder, lightning and hail. Here is a view from the Thames of the city, with the Jubilee lights still shining as heavy weather approaches. Come rain or come shine, Victoria’s reign still stands as the longest of any British monarch throughout history.
Digital oil painting with a medium natural canvas texture. Based on one of gifted artist Constance Widen’s photographs.*
