A variety of plants brightens the interior spaces of the Omaha, Nebraska Old Market Passageway, thanks to the skylight that forms its roof.
Originally two stand-alone brick warehouses separated by an alleyway, the passageway was created by adding the roof, thus joining the buildings.
As part of a project to restore and preserve downtown Omaha’s historical structures, the interiors were renovated to provide a commercial venue for artists and artisans to showcase their creativity and sell their work.
The area is now a thriving cultural and commercial center; the space created by the passageway project includes art galleries, eclectic shops and other small businesses.
Digitally painted from an original photograph shot in May 2006.*
