Found this snapping turtle out on the bank of the pond scratching the earth and grass back with its flippers-so I thought it must be a mother to be about to lay eggs! You artist-scientists out there-let me know if they lay their eggs on dry land or if my theory on this was wrong. I have never seen a snapping turtle anywhere but in the water. They don’t even perch on logs or rocks the way the other turtles do, at least from what I have observed.
