Bondaged Apollo
This was for a study of fabric and how it relates to figure drawings, the transitions from one plane to the next. My professor basically tied up an Apollo statue. Could have some symbolism if wanted. An art work’s interpretation doesn’t have to stay true with the artist’s.
This of course is in charcoal.
Bondaged Apollo belongs to the following groups:

This makes me think about people whose human rights are being violated, which in turn made me think about Amnesty International. Excellent drawing. I love charcoal; there is so much feeling which comes through.

This is an amazing drawing. I can actually feel the rope wrapped around the statue. I can also feel the shoulder trying to free itself from its entrapment. I love the background wall. I love the details of the rope and folds of the cloth. Brilliant work!

What a wonderfully talented artist you are Rayven. Your work with charcoal is superb and you manage such dynamic realism; the 3D effect is excellent.

I think you took the fabric theme at more than face value and made a masterpiece. What first hit me about this was your framing. By facing the figure towards the darker and cramped space on the left, you’ve given this an enormous sense of isolation and detachment. I so love the way you speak volumes without having to say a word. THAT is true art.
