Thick 2
white chalk and conte
9×11 Artagain paper (from a mixed colored packet) Very nice, great variety of colors btw!
I’ve started a series on obesity. All my life I have been overweight and have always been self conscious of my body. Through drawing I’m learning things about my body and trying to overcome this negative feeling I get about my body and turn it into something more productive.
Thick 2 belongs to the following groups:
"Real" Life Artwork (No Photography), All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Big & Beautiful People, Lesbian and Bi-Women's Art, Pencil Drawing (2 per 24 hrs), The Artistic Nude, The L Word and Works On Paper Available for sale asGreeting Cards

“Thick” is lovely but it was once called Reubinesque because it was more universally accepted as lovely. Today, we are white washed by media to the point that we have no true personal feelings. I fight to retain mine and, honestly, this is what I see as the most beautiful a woman can be. This is what makes beauty for me.
It’s hard for me to see the word “fat” used as a tag for this but it’s probably the best way to get those who feel tagged that way to see this and know otherwise. :-) A beautiful piece!
Rayven replied
The reason for is this is commonly labeled as “fat.” I did a search for full figured models and that alone did not get many searched. The tag “fat” got triple the amount of searches for full figured models so hence the tag was suitable.
Thanks for all the comments everyone!

hmmmm really not my idea of over weight, very nicely done piece of art however.
Rayven replied
Universally it is. If you’re not skin and bone, you’re fat. I’m considered mid-range obese.

gorgeous…....

Hmm best to ignore the accepted norm according to media outlets.
Rayven
ah yes i agree. you know, myspace didn’t allow this photo but yet they have these disgusting girls in bikinis bending over and doing all these sexual poses.
Paul Vanzella
I find this incredibly beautiful and also find this so much more appealing than no curves… This image would be nothing without the curves, so I ask you.. what makes this image work….. THE PERFECT SHAPE OF WOMAN -that’s what – and it’s glorious! So well done!
(remember – society and magazines have it so wrong with their interpretation on beauty)
Rayven replied
Thank you so much for your words Paul and you are absolutely right. Maybe someday, the world will change and the pressure put on women to be a stick will lessen.

Beautiful rendering Rayven. Nicely balanced.
Very strange that it should be censored. Aesthetically I love curves and a big healthy woman with ‘poise’ is a heavenly sight. But I think if they get so big that it messes with their health and quality of life then its time to do themselves a favour.
Rayven replied
Yes, well myspace doesn’t care if it’s a drawing of not. I have one photo on there that I’m surprised they haven’t removed. I’m one of those girls that needs to lose weight. I need to cut my weight in half no kidding. Ever since I got back together with my gf the pounds just keep coming on.

Please consider adding this to the Big & Beautiful People group. Along with ‘Define Perfect’ I think it would be a fabulous addition to the work there.
All the best

I totally agree with the description you made of your own body Rayven, because I exactly feel the same with mine !! this drawing is very unusual and I just find it beautifully done

Rayven, not only is this drawing beautiful but you are, as well – assuming you are the model in this drawing. I’m appalled that MySpace would censor it – there is nothing sexual about this, it is sensual and beautiful and a necessary kind of rendition of beauty to offer a much needed counterpoint to all the damaging skin-and-bones models we women are bombarded with as the ideal to which we should aspire. Wonderful art!!
Rayven replied
Thanks for the sweet comments, Tara. It is a collage of me and photographs I’ve found. Most of my artwork is like that. I piece things together and turn it into what I hope to be a believable drawing. Not many people know that I do that.
Barbara Glatzeder
wow, that sounds like a very creative and liberating thing to do … the drawing is wonderful, I love it :-)
Rayven replied
Thanks Barb! Much appreciated! :D

A fantastic work and rendering of a beautiful body. Certainly nothing ugly. DEFINITELY sensual!
I think it’s a sad term to use; “overweight”, because it suggests that there is a weight limit that women need to stay under. Thats a load of sh1t to me.
And if art is something that creates discussion/emotion, then you have a wonderful piece of art here. Bravo!
Rayven replied
Everyone has their own definition of ugly and overweight. Where do we draw the line?

thank you for sharing such a beautifull part of yourself rayven the beautifull and at times confronting journey of self discovery and understanding oneself in the face of a shallow society. take care rayven may your journey be kind to you as it can be and go gently with yourself you are your own best friend in this world so walk well together and you will allways have somebody there.

wow :) i love everything about this. the curves, the crop, the bleached out colour, the abstraction :)

Rayven, I thought you must have snuck into my bathroom and taken a photo of me – that’s just what I look like, and like you, have struggled with it all my life. But you are 22, and I am 43 and I can only say it gets easier as the years go by and the years catch up with your skinny friends (ha ha). I have come to love and accept my body for what it is – luckily I married a man who likes a cuddly woman. There are plenty of people out there who appreciate a curvy body. Your art is gorgeous and so many people would do anything to be able to draw and paint!!!! :))
Rayven replied
thanks so much Karen, it’s a great honor to receive a compliment from someone as talented as you. I hope someday my work could be half as good as yours. :) I’m proud to say I’m a plus size beauty. I’ve always carried myself well and to hell those who don’t think so!! :D Thanks again for the nice comments. :)

Great details, I like bbws but I hardly see that much 3d illustrations so I decided to create serveral, I do alot of cover for books and magazines so I tend to lean towards that plus alot of fantasy art, it’s cool.
