The age of Aquarius dawned
Like a psychedelic, sun dance movie.
It was the summer of love
And everything was groovy!
The children of this age
Saw themselves as the next
Generation of a better world.
They loved everybody
And even had sympathy for the Devil!
Everybody was discovering God
Or trying to become God.
Marijuana and LSD
Were the new sacraments,
Gurus and guitar heroes the new false idols.
But the summer of love didn’t last.
The Revolution never happened
And the dream of a better world faded fast.
Vietnam, Nixon, Manson, Altamont , C.I.A. conspiracies,
Fast-forward to the present……
People still talk and sing about love,
But now it’s something you buy
With a credit card or hard, cold cash.
Revolution is a dirty word.
Sympathy is in short supply.
The money-changers still rule the world
And nothing’s really changed…………..
A PIECE INSPIRED BY ALL THE HOPES AND SHATTERED DREAMS OF THE SIXTIES…I’M STILL A BELIEVER, I’M STILL A VOODOO CHILD, I’LL ALWAYS WAVE MY FREAK FLAG HIGH!!
NEVER SAY DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
