How sweet would it be to create in such a magical place?! This is one of the reasons I’ve been to the UK 3 times and can’t wait to go back again!

My grandson reckons there would have to be a ghost or 2 roaming
The corridors & grounds.

Beneath these leaves of green I sat
Without my coat without my hat
I had a long and friendly chat
With a man I’d never seen

He talked of days of eras past
Spoke sometimes slow and sometimes fast
His stories had a growing cast
With generations in between

He told the tale of this old place
With nimble tongue and bardic grace
Though distance was upon his face
His eyes were ever keen

He told me how he’d laid the stone
He told of sweat and broken bone
When he was done I was alone
As if he had never been

I blinked my eyes and looked around
The man was nowhere to be found
I paid the tab and tipped a pound
I’m sure I was a little green

I asked the innkeep about this guy
He shook his head with gusty sigh
And told me how that man did die
It shook me to my spleen
