A near deserted Pensacola Beach just before the arrival of a big summer storm. This was taken just a week for the BP oil slick came ashore. 2010

How pretty, I was just thinking about the beach! I haven’t been to the gulf in years. Hate to see what I missed… Beautiful work, there’s such depth to the clouds, Ray!
Thanks Mark – probably my favourite place on the Gulf – been twice this year already and oil or no oil, will probably be back before the end of the summer.
My family is from South Alabama originally and we’d go down to the gulf coast when we visited. Mom still has family in Pensacola, but it’s been ages since we went down. The closest I’ve been was Panama City about 10 years ago and it was so built up compared to my memory of it. Despite the large buildings on the horizon, Pensacola looks a bit less built up. I hope it stays that way and recovers from the oil…
fantastic shot, those clouds are amazing
