Sketch for Dghajsa
Pencil on Hahnemuhle Aquarelle mat paper 500 gsm
12” X 9”
The name Dghajsa comes from Egypt but although the name might be, the design is not.
A light framed small boat, used by poorer fishermen, in the past, for costal work, it is now mostly used as tenders or nightime harbor fishing.
Some of these boats are 60 or more years old and I still remember the last ones being made 30 years ago.
In the video one might see quite a few of them interspersed among the “Luzzus”, another typically local, longer range, boat.
This one drawn is in the process of undergoing maintainance.
