As this ship was a Corvette, I relate to them… My father was a gunner in the Royal Australian Navy during WWII on a Corvette. They are a very sleek ship with beautiful lines., and I like the way you have painted her from the stern….
I expect your dad was on a “Ton” Class Minesweeper Larry. I am presently staying in Williamstown, Victoria where there is a “Ton” class: HMAS Newcastle lying at the wharf.HMS Spiraea is an much earlier “Flower” class minesweeper. They, as compared to the “Ton”, were lumbering, slow and uncomfortable vessels made from a Whale-catcher design. I have plans to paint one of them soon.
