Whilst taking some photos of the newly erected sculpture on Glen Osmond Road in Norwood, this young couple, out for a stroll decided to practice their waltzing skills – it was a delight to watch.

I dont recall seeing this sculpture, I will have to check it out. The lighting here is lovely, and the dancers…how romantic :)

  • It hasn’t been completed for very long but I am sure more and more people will visit and photograph it – certainly worth checking out.
I was expecting the couple to keep walking through but they stopped to dance and since I was doing long exposures they got “snapped” a couple of times.
I spoke to them as they could see me taking shots, so I showed them what I had done and we swapped contact details – didn’t want them to think I was some crazy person! lol I sent them a copy of the photos and in their reply told me that they shared their first kiss under the rings when I had left – so it was very romantic…..for them!
I don’t think I did the Rings justice – they are even more interesting in person and I don’t think I captured this completely – I shall be visiting them again!
Thanks again for the fav and lovely comment :)

Oh what a lovely story Helen….and you made it happen for them I think. I wonder what these rings look like in the daytime?

  • Thanks for your lovely comment Janine – much appreciated. I have since been out to see the rings during the day – certainly not as dramatic or colourful as at night. More a monochrome silver and would be an interesting challenge to photograph I think! :)

Helen, re. your first response above, I think you have done very well. The rings are very difficult to photograph – anyway mine have all been failures – but I think you have a great result here.
    Cheers! Robert

  • Many thanks Robert – I have since been back several times and really enjoy trying to find different ways to shoot the rings. I can’t imagine any of your shots being failures at all!!! I think you may be being a bit harsh on yourself there – look forward to seeing how you see the Rings, should you decide to post to RB :)

Very cool and the colors are amazing Helen.

  • Thanks Leon – this sculpture comes alive with colour at night in contrast to the stark monotone silver during the day. Glad you like it :)
