This is actually an old favorite of mine that I am bringing back = )
We all wear a mask for different situations, work, family friends etc. Hopefully there is at least one person with whom the mask is chunked and you are free to be the real you 100% I am fortunate have several of these wonderful souls in my life. So in this I have tied the mask to the wall and wear it no more. Making this really made me think and even ultimately like me for me. I wrote this a few years ago and decided I would never be so caught up in the game of everyday life that I became this person. I hope you like the art/poem. Have an awesome day! Hugs vonne

Illusion

If a picture paints a thousand words
Then yours must be blurred
I can’t see through the haze
I can’t see past your steel gaze

Reflections of the soul
Truths in the eyes are told
but your gaze is so cold

In the daily grind that is life
You don your mask
You smile and laugh
Is any of it real
What do you really feel

Is it all an act
Just ritual or routine
Stay too busy to notice
This void that runs through your core

Will you notice
Will you look up and notice
When I am there no more

Will anything or anyone ever really break through
Life they say is an illusion
I am starting to believe the illusion

    Both words and portrait and beautiful and senstive. Your verse is wise and carries much truth; your portrait is wonderful, and I love how you have, indeed, hung your mask on the wall. Lovely colouring and textures, your gaze is very piercing, seeing through to the hidden truths.

    I just love this artwork, Vonne! It’s terrific and speaks clearly, with a beautiful ring. Glad the mask is hanging in a place where it can be appreciated for what it is—just that, a nice “mask”.

    WOW – those eyes… oh boy those eyes look right into one’s soul! Love that expression and the textures here are spectacular really bringing out “the mask” so beautifully!
