I love the way the strong lighting and soft focus work together in this photo to capture the emotion. Very effective. The pose and the expression add to that emotion and the close cropping has the effect of grabbing the viewer and drawing them in. You seem to have taken a number of elements that would often work against one another and made them come together in a very strong image.

Wonderful B+W work

The most poignant question of the human heart, wrung from all that we cry out for, within the veil of life. After days of pondering this, I wrote this…..One thing I am sure of…we admire you for your dedication and spirit, Vonne.

When God tests Angels…..
Does he invent deeper and harder courses,
Courses of inches,
courses of endless and mindless suffering,
Courses we do not understand?
Tested and wondering,
Tested amidst the painful rocks,
Granite that dots our random human landscape
Legs bruised with stumbled steps,
Blue and red and black from climbing,
Endless climbing,
Dark and unseen and feeling the hardness,
Cold, ungiving stone,
They don’t pierce me like thorns,
Just the large bruises that remain,
Ache of days, and pain from pain past
Buffeted with mere steps,
Inches and agony, the same tortured gasps,
My dry mouth and the chronic ragged sense,
Is it because?
Or in spite of?
If I had wings…..
It would be easy to look up if,
The rocks and hills didn’t trip me,
Then, I could look at God with fewer questions,
And smile back at at Him….
