THE LESSONS ~ (A Prayer for my Mother)

I pray that I can tell you
Of the thoughts within my heart;
Like, how much I value
The Mother that you are.

Of the stories that you told me,
On the nights I couldn’t sleep,
The gentle way you’d hold me,
When Life’s slopes were too steep.

The lessons that you taught me
When I had so much to learn;
The love you so often brought me
When I had none to return.

The forgiveness and the sacrifice
You expressed along the way;
The love and patient kindness
You showed me every day.

I give them all to you now Mum,
Because it is my turn,
To thank a precious Mother
For the lessons I have learned
