"The Look Back" Timber Wolf Portrait by

About “The Look Back” by Skye Ryan-Evans ©

A young black Timber Wolf takes a wistful look back as he leaves his pack for the first time, to hunt alone. A poignant expression plays across his face as he betrays mixed feelings about his departure. Wolves are incredibly sensitive, intelligent creatures. Their range of emotions rival Man’s and they are capable of far more complex social interactions than is as yet understood by us.

This gentle work was created recently after the artist completed an 11 week journey across Canada capturing images of wildlife and wondrous scenery. Canada holds so many hidden treasures in the form of pristine tracts of wilderness and the fascinating wild creatures that inhabit them.

25% of royalties from each sale of this fine wall-print is donated directly to Defenders of Wildlife at: www.defenders.org. Thank you for caring about Animals at risk.

Beautiful… just beautiful. How fortunate that those creatures lacking voice when their very existence depends upon one have a champion such as you with the incredible ability and talent to speak so eloquently for them. lovely work (and when isn’t your work lovely (big smile)) … welcome back Skye! sounds as if you’ve had a wonderful trip … the trans Canadian trip was one I had always wanted to do (along with the trans Siberian one (grin)) … I will probably never do either trip however I lasted a few days on this virtual tour (very cool indeed!)

Google Russia creates virtual tour of Trans-Siberian railway journey

if you have a little time to spare at least spend a few hours on it … the trip of a lifetime! (smile)

    welcome back Skye! (big smile)

  • Hello my friend, and thank you for the lovely comments. I will take theTrans-Siberian journey sometime this week (virtually that is). Thanks so much for letting me know about this cool link.
Seeing Canada up close and very personal was breathtaking at times and always fulfilling. It has changed me in a good way I think and I look forward to continuing to the Maritimes then doing it all over again but this time… going West instead of East! lol

The expression you have caught is just incredible; and reading your description of the moment in which the image was captured adds a great deal of meaning to the work. Fabulous, Skye.
