"Stepping Into Eternity"

"Stepping Into Eternity"

This powerful fantasy piece was designed by Skye to express the ancient Egyptian concept of Immortality. Based upon the beautiful Triad of King Menkaure who reigned during the Fourth Dynasty; (ca. 2490–2472 B.C.E.). Archaeological digs have unearthed six such triads from Menkaure’s valley temple. They are variations on the theme showing the pharaoh accompanied by the goddess Hathor and in each case a different guardian deity of an Upper Egyptian province.

This triad shows the figure of Menkaure, Hathor (on his left), and another female deity (on his right). The pharaoh is striding vigorously in front of the two goddesses, leading the way to Eternity.

In this artwork, these powerful deities and ruler are surrounded by typical symbols and hieroglyphs of the region and period, many of which are depictive of the concept of Immortality and Eternity.

The celestial images representing the much revered Sun, Moon and Stars, reflects the ancient Egyptian reverence for these heavenly identities.
