"Inuit Summer" (Kayaking)

Kayaking in the Land of the Midnight Sun! This beautiful piece shows two Inuit hunters gliding through Summer ice-strewn waters. The pale yellow of the Arctic Sun slices through the kayak as light and shadow collide.

The first in a new series of Arctic Circle Artworks, “Inuit Summer” is a stunning introduction to new works on the drawing-board.

gorgeous Skye!! I love how you captured the light with this one … (smile)

  • Skye Ryan-Evans replied

Thank you owl, I appreciate that. It was the lighting that attracted me to the scene in the first place. It’s so northern looking to me. :o-)

ever think of doing your ‘thing’ (grin) with Inuit shaman masks ? (big smile)

  • Skye Ryan-Evans replied

I agree the masks are incredibly interesting as an artform as well as historically. I haven’t done much Inuit influenced work since I began focusing on wildlife protection, but there’s no reason why I can’t in the near future while still raising donations for the various niaml groups. :o-) I have always had a passion for Haida art and totem art though, since I was a midget (kid) in NZ and I love Inuit stone carvings as well. There are so many thousands of ideas I long to try but 100 years for a life-span won’t be enough time to try all that I want to lol I’m looking forward to the next round so to speak grin

oh gosh I do know what you mean .. the ideas just pour out of me at times .. (grin) .. I’ve done masks before but have none of my left since they were destroyed in a move (ugh) .. just never enough hours in a day .. and oh ya I am truly looking forward to the next round too (grin)
