"Precious" (Mountain Gorillas)

"Precious" (Mountain Gorillas)

A baby Mountain Gorilla is cradled in the arms of her mother, while her father, a large Silverback Gorilla watches from behind. Created to help raise awareness about the serious plight of the Virunga Mountain Gorillas. These creatures are severely endangered and only 650 or so remain alive in the world today. Most die due to illegal poaching, encroachment onto rainforest habitats by charcoal farmers who burn the rainforest trees down and many die due to vicious acts by warring soldiers fighting between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

All of my Mountain Gorilla artwork is dedicated to raising donations from sales to directly benefit the caring organization Wildlife Direct at wildlifedirect.org.

Thank you for helping me to help them. ~ Skye

firstly congratulation on this amazing image. fantastic and also making us aware again on the plight of these wonderful creates.

It is astonishing and almost beyond believe, that these poor creatures are still being hounded to extinction by human hunters to satisfy the souvenir market of the middle east and yes dare I say some section of very ignorant American society.

It almost appears as if Diane Fossey’s work has been in vain. My heart cries.

Well done and moving. All the earth is under attack right now byt the forces of greed and wanton destruction. Sometimes I think we humans are like a cancer upon the living body of earth. Yet theres also a heightening of consciousness and evolved ways of being.

Excellent work and a very sad story, greed is so rampant all over the earth, yet there are still a lot of good people and organizations trying to save all these lovely creatures.

Thank you for being such a creative and evocative voice for the higher forms of life in our world. I sometimes marvel that most humans consider themselves the pinnacle of creation… and sadly shake my head at the blatant audacity of such a claim. Thank you for being a force for positive change and peace.

It’s such a shame these beautiful creatures will someday only be part of our history, the only way our kids will see them is in photographs if something doesn’t change!!!

    Awesome photo, very touching…

I love the animals in your pictures. They just come to life and it is very sad that this is happening. I swear for every one person trying to help there are a handful working completely against the progress. I hope that polarity reverses at some point. Til then keep up the beautiful work.

  • Skye Ryan-Evans replied

Rhonda, thank you sincerely for your heartfelt comments. :o-) Happy New Year! Skye
