5 Things I'd Like To Achieve In Life...

Thinking about my life lately at 40, there is a few things I’ve long wanted to do but still have not achieved any of them, so maybe for the next 40 years I will dedicate myself to fulfilling my dreams of…

Travelling to the Greek Islands and then flying over The Great Rift Valley.

To study Astronomy.

Learning to speak another language, Italian first.

I want to learn how to be a magician.

Publishing a book is a life long dream I’ve had.

That’s my 5 life goals in a nutshell, do you ever think about it?

Take your vision and make it happen, time has a nasty way of sneaking up on us, and before long we realize what we wanted to do we no longer have time to do = )

  • Vanessa Barklay replied

Methinks this is true, I hope I can achieve some if not all, thank you for your lovely support Ron :O)

“Lulu” will help you publish. There will be a magic circle somewhere, hopefully fairly close. Astronomy is hard! You can learn Italian from CDs & maybe there is a helpful Italian in your town. Greek Islands…? Could be a bit harder but still possible.
I doubt ANY of MY wish list can happen, so I’ll settle for one, just one, really good photo. The rest I’ll keep in dream land…

  • Vanessa Barklay replied

Thank you, I hope so too! How about that, I do feel like I wanna have a cup of tea with you! 40 does make you sit back I reckon and take stock of everything you have I think, maybe that is why we have mid life crisis’.....lol :O)

very interesting list – I have tended to find that accomplishing one goal seems to lead to another … so I would say pick one and just start – don’t know about up there, but down here we have community education classes that cover a wide range of things … good luck my intrepid, Italian speaking, travelling astonomer magician author and red bubble companion!

  • Vanessa Barklay replied

One at a time, very sensible methinks…lol that’s me! :O)

Go for it girl! I’m nearing 40 as well and I think we’re in the prime of our lives. Too old to say “I can’t” and young enough to say “Why the heck not?”. I’m contemplating on getting an Anthropology degree. I’ve always loved it but had the pressure of getting a “paying job” after graduating, so I got a different degree in Uni. No regrets though. I love languages too! We’re teaching our son to say at least “hello” and “thank you” in several languages, and I’m enrolling for French classes next term. And right now, I’m living one of my dreams – doing just what’s on my RB page. I’ve always had a career and a 9-5 job, but coming to Aus seven years ago… it was difficult for reasons I can and can not understand. ‘Got depressed for a while, really bad. Then (in the shower) I thought, why not go back to the thing I’ve always wanted to do?! So I got a camera and the rest is history.
I’ve been looking at these websites of publishers because I want to publish too; coffee table books. Have a looksee:
    http://www.bookpal.com.au; http://www.loveofbooks.com.au; http://www.lulu.com

And that’s my story in a nutshell.

So I say again, go for it :) and I wish you good luck with all my heart.

Anthropology would be great too! I have been thinking about one for a fractal theme actually, to offset all my God work I think…wonderful you are teaching your child to be bilingual, thats great. Me too, RB is fantastic, I enjoy it alot right now in my life at home with my year old son, it lets me be creative and social meeting lovely people, I joined Lulu but it seemed very american I will have a look at the link you gave, thanks heaps!
Thanks for sharing your story I love hearing other peoples and you go for it too dear Aileen and live your dreams as best you (we) can! :O)

sorry friend, but could you tell me how to REPLY rather than comment? also, if i add favourites, do they get sent to all on your watchlist, or is there another way? sorry to be so useless, but havnt got to grips yet!!!!!!!!

  • Vanessa Barklay replied

No, its all fine! Where it says reply report delete…..click reply when someone comments on your own work to reply to them….when you comment on mine (or others) use comment. No, Favourites are Favourites, look at your Profile Page, your main page, see you have 2 lists, one is Faves and one is Watchlist, you get everything from them….nothing you do goes to them though…. if I was watching you anything you Favourited would be seen by me…..If you had ME on Watchlist anything I did or Faved would be seen by YOU…anything you Fave gets sent to anyone who has YOU on THEIR watchlist…not YOUR watchlist ….any q’s please ask :O)
