This is a fossilised yabby, part of my collection, we have a few of these, this one shows his claws clearly.
The yabby is a type of freshwater Australian crayfish, found mostly in dams or muddy creek banks or under the rocks on the muddy bottom, catching them is fun, eating them is even more fun!

    These guys are so cool ive seen a lot of these from darwin and have heard that they fossilize like this quite quickly as far as fossils go…….

  • Actually, now you mention it I did buy these in Darwin! That would have been ‘94, I remember now…the other one hasn’t such a good claw and head shape but the back body is there which looks very yabby like, thanks for the comment, thought you might like this one! :O)
