Photography to me is still unchartered territory. My son bought me a camera last Christmas, and off I went, snapping away. I only have been taking pictures for a few months, and I still need the manual – so please lend me an indulgent look.
I like to photograph people mainly, and aspects of different cultures… all with a compassionate eye.
I also need to have fun while I take pictures, and build a report with my human and animal subjects. Many of the people I have photographed, are still in touch with me: friendships born across colors, and cultures of Continents.
As far as objects and nature are concerned, some of those pictures are just accidents, and lucky breaks… shot with absolutely no intention, with all the ignorance I have of photography. But I like those shots as well, some I am quite proud of, as they are part of my journey. I am just a beginner, and hope to learn more from other artists.
My animal subjects have a story with me. I wanted to remember them for a particular reason.
So to me, at this point, photography is my escape, and it is my storybook.
I am thankful to have found in India, a place where the colors, and the scent of spices mix with the sweat of the nation and its animals. I discovered that country’ spirituality, and inequities among castes, the hunger in the streets, its pollution, its romance, and beauty. I fell in love with that country, all of its Life, and also the lack of It. The camera was my tool for meeting people, sharing a moment with them, and it was also the opportunity to embed all that I experienced into my heart and my new eyes.
Other than that, I have a Masters Degree in Herbal Medicine,- my first passion… weird huh? – and teach Aromatherapy worldwide. I also sell eco-friendly products from India that I purchased from local artisans, using Fair Trade philosophies.
I am – by passion – a Mosaic artist: glass work, and I don’t know what’s next.
I am a passionate serious gourmet cook, and admire a great chef with the same enthusiasm and respect I would for a great photographer.
I dislike racism, ageism, sexism, and all the words that ends with “ism”, and also the IRS, cruelty, lack of humor, and high heels… ;o)
Namaste
