This is a picture of a potter from Old Salem village in N.C.
At old Salem they have people who depict life the way it was a long time ago. Things that we would take for granted today was all done by hand back then.
The potter explained to me that during the war (Civil) pottery used to be brought over from China on boats. Pottery as it is did not survive such long journeys very well, so the only thing to do was create a method of making their own. With the red “Carolina Clay” that is abundant here the solution was set.
Today, there are still potters of every kind coming out of North Carolina. There is even a town with nothing but pottery! (Seagrove N.C.)

“This is wonderful on so many levels… Lighting, composition, etc. But best of all, it captures me and takes me there. It puts me in another world that is less complicated. I love this shot for that reason” THANK YOU Jeanne!!
