In Christianity, the red rose is a symbol of Jesus’ blood and the suffering that he went through during His crucifixion. In Greek mythology, the red rose represents passionate desire. This is derived from the myth of Aphrodite spilling blood onto a white rose to try and help her wounded lover Adonis.
