Crater Lake

View of Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, USA, from a pullout on the West side. Wizard Island in the center. This is the smallest portion of the lake. The biggest part is on the other side of the Island. The lake is 6 miles long and 5 miles wide and almost 2,000 feet deep. It is an ancient volcano cauldron that sits on top of the Cascade mountain range. It is very accessible to visit, though. There is even wheelchair access.

Thanks Mia. Yes, this National Park is one to see if you can. There is also many other beautiful lakes and rivers in the vicinity. You can fly into Medford airport and drive up in a few hours. The road up is a State Scenic Drive and there is a beautiful lodge to stay in overlooking the lake. Many famous people have stayed there!

Yes, it is a super drive around the lake and also the scenic loop from Roseburg to Diamond lake, and down to Medford is well worth the trip.

So true. There are a few special spots on this earth that are natural cathedrals and this is one IMO. I want to get some more quality shots there under low light conditions this year.

i used to vacation in utah with my daughters and lord, there every few yards it seemed to cry camera please you,d go bunko,s there i had a ton of slides, of it but when my wife died, i giave them to my girls, i started in photography 60 years ago and switched to painting,and ceramics later, i now have a cheap camera for taking pictures of my art, your photo,s are quite good! i live close to the lake and see it every year if i can thanks for your visit i live in klamath falls since 89
