8.5X10.5 Pen & Ink Sketch hit with Acrylics on #140 Strathmore Water Color Paper. This is the Master Diver that helped me renew my diving certificate after 45 years. I put together some our creatures we saw on the graduation dive at Big Rock, Santa Cruz.
I am semi retired and love to travel with my 9X12 #140 Strathmore pad, my Sharpie Ultra Fine ink pen and five or six sticks of pastels or acrylics to color in my “finds” Sometimes I get real lucky and my wife Dawn will take some pictures I can use later. I seem to always be able to give some kind of sketch to my subjects or those bystanders who desperately want to give me some advice.

Wow….love this Randy! Wonderful colors & I love how you caught the light breaking through the water from above. Really nice work indeed.
Thanks Marsha, it was so cold 53 degrees, but the water was very clear and the seals just kept dive bombing us. Did you notice the huge lobster in the lower left corner? I had to add him in, Mmmm.

Wonderful color, Randy. The pen gives it a great edge. I can’t believe the seals were dive-bombin you; how amazing! I like how you painted the big orange fish swimming this way; as it adds terrific depth to the work.
