8X10 Pen & Ink Sketch hit with pastels on Strathmore #140 Water Color Paper: She sat here for days on this narrow alley in Barrio Gotica and I never saw anyone give her anything. She made me think of Goya’s Caprichos etchings.

Really BEAUTIFUL, Randy!!!Outstanding piece of ARTWORK!!!
Thanks my friend.
This is excellent! I really like the design and the light. I was there a couple years ago and saw a similar person- dressed the same, bare feet- in the same neighborhood. I wonder if it’s the same person? She was sitting in front of the cathedral there in Barrio Gotica.
Thanks! Oh YES she is the same person, has been sitting right there for years and years, probably doing alright with NO taxes to pay?
Exquisite work Randy! I especially love the way you have painted the wall, and the exceptional lighting effects you have achieved with your unique way of working with pen, ink and pastel.
Thanks Lynda, the wall got a little chunky but it was Roman 700 AD, so it was pretty old. I wanted her little glass dish to shine more, but that just didn’t happen.
The painting tells the story so well. Very sad. Excellent work Randy.
Thanks very much for your nice comment Cal.
Excellent piece, I like very much the use of lights. Your work on textured stones at the wall is remarkable.
Thanks Kostas, what an excellent comment.
Fuck Goya’s Caprichos etchings, did you give her anything?
Now now this is a family channel, of couse I gave her a Euro for holding still, but she didn’t want me to include her face, some kind of Gypsy superstition. Many people now have hit my facebook page saying they know this lady and have seen her there for years and years.
remarkable ! too real ! to beautiful ! too eye opening ! heartfelt art ! just love it
Thank you for this wonderful comment affeeefa.
I love this, Randy!!! So emotive!!! Fantastic!! Merry Christmas!! ~LJ
Thanks very much Lynn and good to meet you. Merry Christmas right back.
This is so sad. We saw lots near the old cathedral (not the Gaudi one). I’ve heard they are exploited by people who take them every day and just dump them there. Presumably they take part of the money from them as payment for ferrying them around.
Ouch, I had never heard that.
