Art Richardson 4th of July 1914 by

My Grandad, who taught me everything important that I know, and his fancy lightweight buggy on the 4th of July, 1914. Notice he’s got a fly fluffer over the horse as well and a little American flag tied to the buggy. This was taken outside our farm house as he and Clarence were heading into town to see the parade. Greatinger Iowa was the big town then around 300 people.

horse, buggy, 1914

I am semi retired and love to travel with my 9X12 #140 Strathmore pad, my Sharpie Ultra Fine ink pen and five or six sticks of pastels or acrylics to color in my “finds” Sometimes I get real lucky and my wife Dawn will take some pictures I can use later. I seem to always be able to give some kind of sketch to my subjects or those bystanders who desperately want to give me some advice.

Fabulous keepsake. I see someone wrote on your picture too. So did my mother, guess that is part of the keepsake.
