This dress I found in my wife’s antique chest and one thing led to another as Colleen went with me to Ferndell. Taken with my old 4X5 Speed Graflex, I used it to make a photo gravure with 3 copper plates. My little sister has the only print I know of now done in 1971. I’m think, since it’s such a good image I’m going to paint it.

I am semi retired and love to travel with my 9X12 #140 Strathmore pad, my Sharpie Ultra Fine ink pen and five or six sticks of pastels or acrylics to color in my “finds” Sometimes I get real lucky and my wife Dawn will take some pictures I can use later. I seem to always be able to give some kind of sketch to my subjects or those bystanders who desperately want to give me some advice.

I served my time in the 60’s as a ‘letterpress’ printer and know a little about colour printing and copper plates. That is excellent work Randy !

Yup way to much work, but just look at this print it’s 38 years old and still vibrant, not a shift in color or yellowing cracking or fading, tell that to all your kodak buddies!

    oldie but goodie !

  • Yup, true color never dies! I think that’s why I like Technicolor instead of Kodachrome.
