Chinaman's Hat

Chinaman's Hat

It was a very stormy, windy, and generally un-photographable week in Hawaii last week. I was stuck on O’ahu because my ferry was canceled due to high seas.

So I went “fishing” – so to speak.

I took off in my car for 3 days straight, looking for a spot of sun, less wind, and good scenery. I caught the fish as I was driving into Kane’ohe. The sky cleared behind me, and I did a quick u-turn as the sun was quickly disappearing.

I bailed out ov my van, and literally ran across the a tall-grass field, in desperation, to the edge of the water This image is a series of 16 shots on my little Canon Rebel XTi, using a very salt-coated lens.

Thanks to the computer age, I saved the shot and made it all come together into what is a great “catch”.

I sure wish I’d have known you were coming over to O’ahu… I’d love to go out on a shoot with you sometime. There is a fishpond very close to where you shot this photograph that makes a great foreground. I’m planning on a sunrise shoot from atop the hill that was behind you in the late spring when the sunrises in this location. Randy, this is a splendid photograph. I am totally enamored (and inspired) by all of your photography. Thank you for sharing it all here at Redbubble.
