  • Ranald replied

You know, that’s what gave me the idea. The colour image wasn’t too specail so I converted to B&W. That was OK but the figures were weak. So looking at them again, they seemed to be drifting past the window. The girl’s pink dress gave me the title because that is really what the focus of the image is. It’s a very subtle pink too.

    Glad you like it.

Excellent use of perspective and negative space. Nice lighting on the railings, also. I’m a big fan of letting shadows and dark spaces take over.

  • Ranald replied

These are wonderful comments, thank you Cliff.

I like the contrast of the dark masculine lines with the soft feminine image. The composition creates a dramatic sense of depth and the lighting is perfect! Great shot!

  • Ranald replied

Thank you for your very detailed and constructive reply. Very much appreciated. R.

Andygii has obviously yet to see this one Ranald. This is such superb work. Not always the greatest fan of selective colouring, but this wins me over ... and the lighting on the figure ,,, its position in the frame and the angles of the stairwell wow.

  • Ranald replied

Just another one of my lucky film shots. Selective colouring can have its uses. Since there wasn’t much colour in the original shot, it seemed a wise thing to do.

Jeez Mate I seem to have missed a few here. This is an absolute ripper. Love the lines and the diminishing perspective as you go down the stairwell. Great use of SC on the woman

  • Ranald replied

Cheers Andy. I’ve reduced my images down to a few pages. I had too many. This is one of my favourite oldies from when digital photography was somewhere in the mind of HAL. Appreciate your comment.

The POV is brilliant anyway, but the woman in pink just puts this in a class of its own. Love this Ranald!!

  • Ranald replied

Thanks Ursula. I think, from memory, it was a young girl of about 10 or so. You’re right of course, the shot before got binned!

Amazing perspective and I really like the idea of the monochrome with that splash of pink as a focal point, well captured and presented Ranald,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Ranald replied

Thank you Rod. I almost missed it, indeed, the shot I took in the first instance was good but rubbish when compared to this.
