popularity what is it made of?

  • Ranald replied

Just the normal steel I think. It’s quite a nice looking car. They were all right hand drives until 1939, then someone decided to change things and nobody dared argue!

  • Ranald replied

Just got the subtle difference there between my “popular” and your “popularity”. Very good.

I like the way you cropped this and the colour… delicious caramel!

  • Ranald replied

Thanks Murray, for the comments and adding this to your favourites. The print had been lying in a folder since 91 and I had forgotten how good it was (fool). Glad you like it.

    great design!

  • Ranald replied

Yep, people think of Skoda as a poor quality car manufacturer. That may have been the case in communist times but not before or latterly.

I really love this car, very much. Did you come across many over there? Beautiful shot by the way!

  • Ranald replied

That was in days gone by and there were one or two driving about. Now things have changed and people have to have new cares and not the lovely old ones. As they say in Czech “To je škoda” or “That is a pity” (notice the last word).

the Muscular Teeth question was quite apt, when they were built, they were built cheap to be popular, and many people said they were made of tin. But they were lovely little cars, and this a great capture of one

Ranald, were exactly is Mlada Boleslav ? I’m going to Cesky Krumlov and Karlovy Vary at Easter, and wonder if it’s worth going off track to take this place in

  • Ranald replied

You must! It’s north east of Prague. Not really a tourist town but it is worth it to get off the beaten track. Karlovy Vary is fantastic but I’ve not been to Cesky Krumlov. Pardubice, Hradec Kralove and Brno are worth a shot too.

Thank you I’ll google it and Wiki it and find out more then

  • ragman

    ragman

which came first the Ford Popular or the Skoda Popular !?

  • ragman

    ragman

The Ford Popular is best known as a car from Ford built in England between 1953 and 1962. When launched, it was Britain’s lowest priced car

But the name Popular was also used by Ford to describe its 1930s Y Type model.

The Skoda Popular started in 1934, So they were originally almost both at the same time
