PINTEREST

I recently was made aware of many of my photos on a web site called Pinterest. These images have all been taken off of redbubble without my permission or knowledge. You should check this site to see if any of your images appear there. I have emailed them to remove all images with my name on them.

Hi Chuck, you have not opted out of having your add to pin-rest option removed.

If you go into your account details at the end of the page is a box to tick to stop the pin it tab showing on your share tab.

When I looked at your images the pin it button is still active.

There is a DMCA takedown form on Pinterest, or you can send an email to them, (using the wording their form tells you to use), to copyright@pinterest.com. If that does not get action within a couple of days, resend the email to copyright@amazon.com which is their hosting site. Or, just send it to both email addresses at once. The form tells you what info you must include.

For more info, see my Journal on finding and taking down infringements online (This info doesn’t just pertain to Pinterest,)

  • Appreciate it,thanks.

Good for you Chuck. It is an appalling site that turns a blind eye to innumerable copyright breaches. I’ve had to do similar in the past. It’s of no benefit exposure wise. The way it is set up, the signal to noise ratio is eroded, and any interest in images added are of no benefit to the photographer, as it only makes it harder to contact the actual creator…
    Best

  • Thanks Brett, yes it’s going to take a lot of time for me to get all my work off the site because they make you give a URL for each photo. They have about 30 of my pics on the site.

Yes, for a while Redbubble was allowing people to click on a link to do just that. Now they have made it an option which you set in your account profile. I’m getting really pissed off about them allowing others to put our images on other sites, even when we post copyright notices that strictly forbid just that. Also send a notice to Pinrest that they are violating your copyright and tell them to take them down.

  • Yeah, they have a way to remove your photos from their site but its time consuming especially if there are lots of images on the site. There are 40 of mine so its taking me a while to remove them.
