In a dream I walked along a deserted railway line feeling the gravel and beams under my feet and enjoying the sweet smell of poppies all around me. A lone buck stood off in the field beyond the willow trees grazing on the fresh sprouts of grass that arose after a spring rain. The sound of a babbling brook drew my attention to the gathering of ducks searching for food in the grass along the water’s edge. Geese honked as they flew overhead headed for the flooded rice fields I had walked past earlier. In the distance I noticed a gathering of storm clouds and the distinct shimmer of a rainbow as it started to form over a distant lush green valley. I sat down on the tracks enjoying the sunshine that I knew would soon come to an end as the storm came my way. There was a feeling of freedom and happiness that I never wished to end.
The sound of my alarm brought me back to the real world. It was time to face another dreary day. As I stepped out of the house geese honked drawing my attention as they changed into a unique double X formation on their way to the nearby rice fields. I could hear the sound of a train as it passed through the middle of town and see a double rainbow as it started to form over a nearby valley. Suddenly, I had the feeling that this was going to be a very good and unusual day after all.
