A study of Arrakis, just before dawn. I wanted to show the emptiness of the planet and the blending of the ancient and the new.

Painted most of the background and overlayed some textured paper. I hadn’t planned to make the figures sillouhetes but I am glad with how they turned out.

The book is an incredible source of inspiration! Loving reading it and translating it into images!

Well done, Shane, and you are quite right, the first 3 books are my favorite. Have you also read the prequel series by Brian Herbert? The mini-series from 2002 was done well too.
