On the weekend we went for a 50’s & 60’s jamboree at the Kedron/Wavell RSL Club and what a fabulous night it was. There were various artists performing the hits of Elvis Presley, Connie Francis, Roy Orbison, Bill Haley, Bobby Darin, Carl Perkins and The Shadows. They were extremely good and kept us jiving away for over three and a half hours. To say we were exhausted at the end of the night is an understatement. Elvis stole the show though. He was very popular with the young and old. Not only did he sound just like Elvis but also performed all his hip and leg movements. It was very funny to see ladies in their sixties & seventies wanting to touch him and of course he obliged by coming to the front of the stage and reached out to them. As a result of his energetic movements he was perspiring profusely and there were many young girls reaching out to him with their handkerchief. I never got to see Elvis in person but this young guy was the next best to The King.
