Nikon D700 & Nikkor 24-70mm lens.

Milford Sound is in the Fiordland National Park and is New Zealand’s rawest wilderness areas. A jagged mountainous, forrested zone sliced by numerous deeply recedded sounds reaching inland like crooked fingers from the Tasman Sea. Part of the Te Wahipounamu Southwest New Zealand World Heritage Area. It remains for most of the part formidable and remote.

I have always had a love of capturing images and in my early teens took many photographs on my little Kodak camera. I loved the wild open spaces and bird life in particular and longed to be able to be an accomplished photographer. It took ill health and a forced early retirement to re-kindle this love of photography. I am a self-taught amateur photographer who has had no formal training. I take great pride and joy in my work and these days have the time to pursue this wonderful hobby.

You have such a remarkable talent for foregrounds. The spiky plant left foreground echoes the pointed peaks, the rounded tree branch echoes the curve of the water and the grasses on the left echo the tops of the buildings on the right. I love it. Alma

  • Thank you Alma for such lovely comments. Believe me I sure do not have any talent for foregrounds. I spend quite a bit of time walking around looking for such material. I wish it would come to me naturally as this would save me a lot of time.
