The Birds
Digital Photography.
I have always had a love of capturing images and in my early teens took many photographs on my little Kodak camera. I loved the wild open spaces and bird life in particular and longed to be able to be an accomplished photographer. It took ill health and a forced early retirement to re-kindle this love of photography. I am a self-taught amateur photographer who has had no formal training. I take great pride and joy in my work and these days have the time to pursue this wonderful hobby.

Thanks Svetlana.

What a fantastic shot, in so many respects, Ralph.
My photography students would point to the superb sharpness, your observance of the ‘rule of thirds’, the back-lighting shining through the wing feathers, and thew fact that something is ‘happening’ in the photograph.
For myself, it caught my eye as I glanced through your complete RedBubble portfolio, and I felt an instant attraction. Great shot!
Thank you very much Keith for all your expert comments. I did not realize that you conducted photography classes. I honestly appreciate all you had to say. Thanks again.

I really love this image Ralph…. such a beautiful green to set off the cockie! Beautiful backlighting…. and dof. There must be something about green this week… I’ve come across quite a few images with this green predominant in the past few days…. or maybe it’s just me finding them and they are always there………… lol!! : ))
Thanks Jenny for your comments – it is greatly appreciated.

One of the best sulpher crested cocky photos I have seen. Light just glows therough the wings and on the passion leaves.
Thank you very much for your lovely and encouraging comments. It was much appreciated.

Great shot Ralph, I own a pet cocky and eclectus parrots and they can be so hard to photograph at times, you have captured him beautifully :o)
Thank you Karina. I spent many hours patiently trying to get the image I was after. My wife use to get mad and wanted me to chase these cockies away from the passion fruit. We ended up not getting a single fruit.
