Delaney's Hut
This is Delaney’s Hut in Kosciuszko National Park. This one sits just off the Snowy Mountains Highway so an easy one to access. Unfortunately the original hut was lost in the 2003 bushfires, but has since been rebuilt.
This is my 5th attempt to shoot this hut, every other time I’ve come past it I’ve had bright blue skies and it’s been lunchtime, so the light was just too harsh to get a decent photo. This time though, it was lunchtime again, but we had snow and some very menacing black clouds with the sun just breaking behind me, so the perfect light…. well in my eyes!
Photo was taken 27th April 2009

Delaney's Hut belongs to the following groups:
Alpine Australia, EF Welcome Center, Everything Winter, National Parks of the World, New South Wales Photography and Snow! Glorious Snow!! 2 a day Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

Thanks Jeff, I was so happy to finally get some good light to shoot this one. even if I did have to drive two hours home with a wet backside after losing my balance and landing in the snow!

Hi Raquel.
You certainly know how to capture the moment.
Kosciuszko’s a bit far for me, so I have been concentrating my series of Australiana in and around my own area. The next one is titled “Drought”.
But I would love to be up around your area some time.
Take care my friend.
Raquel Bourne replied
Hiya Larry, good to hear from you. If you’re ever up this way give me a shout :)

Fantastic image! At first I thought it is an HDR image but you must have nailed the perfect moment of light! Love it.
Raquel Bourne replied
Thank you, yep no HDR, I did bracket the shot thinking HDR would be needed, but the light was just perfect and only took a little contrast adjustment and that was about it

Your patience has been rewarded and we are the richer for it. A striking which could easily have been ordinary. That it was not HDR shows the value of good in camera work which is often overlooked in the digital age. Well done.

Thank you, since I acquired my DSLR I am actually finding I use HDR a lot less
