Thsi is an amazing image Raquel, looks like a lovely place to spend some time! with all the wildlife in the background, seems like a great place for a photographer to hang out just to be with nature. Do you know the purpose of such a large fireplace for such a small hut? If I could come to Australia, this is the kind of place I would want to visit!!

  • Raquel Bourne replied

Thanks JD, it is a great place and lots of pesky kangaroos out there! I’m not sure of the significance of the large fireplace, I do know the hut had some renovations done back in 1991. There are lots of huts like this around here in the high country, a safe haven for bushwalkers and skiiers to shelter in.

Lovely panoramic capture! The dry grasses compliment the shades of the chimney and contrast nicely against the green treed area! :)

    Thank you so much Sandy

Thanks Sonia, it is my plan to eventually capture each and every one in Kosciusko and Namadgi over the coming years, I may be dreaming, but it’s the goal for now :)

Sounds like an excellent goal :)

I love the tones in this, very earthy & relaxing. Looks like a great place to spend the night (if you’re allowed…?)

  • Raquel Bourne replied

Yep Rachel, that’s the plan, I have the maps and getting the GPS co-ordinates together for all of them (now I just need the GPS…hahaha).

Brayshaws is open to campers as far as I’m aware, and it’s good as it’s just off the road!

What a beautiful shot Raquel, the colour of the light is great and the cropping highlights the hut perfectly.

I love the low landscape crop on this and the rich orange grass! Another fantastic place to explore! How far away is this to walk to it from the nearest road? I’d love to visit some of these places you’ve captured so well!!!

  • Raquel Bourne replied

Thanks Catherine. Some of the huts are very easy to find and sit not far from the road. Orroral sits 300 metres from a sealed road and this one sits just off the road, it’s a dirt road and bit of a bumpy ride, but do able in a 2wd. Orroral is about 20 minutes from my place in South Canberra and Brayshaw’s (this one) is about a 40 minute drive
